"Taska & The Party Band" have been playing together in Oregon & Washington since May of 2010 as a variety dance band. They have played from Salem, OR to Seattle, WA at a variety of dances and special events. They specialize in Nostalgia 40's Ballroom (swing & Latin), Golden Oldies 50's-60's, 70's-80's Classic Rock & Disco and Vintage to 90's Country music. This variety makes the band especially capable of entertaining all-ages events such as receptions, birthday and anniversary parties. Taska specializes in wedding receptions, even providing a beautiful white wedding arch, when needed. Additionally, they perform cabaret shows and can tailor-make a special show for a corporate themed-event.
Each member of this band brings decades of performing experience to the group. They all play a variety of instruments but for the information needed here it goes as follows:
Taska Barlow was presented a trophy "Entertainer of The Year" in Seattle, WA in 1979 by actress Cyd Charisse. She has performed on Norwegian Cruise Lines, and from Canada to Texas, MGM Grand in Nevada to the Nashville Palace in Tennessee, specializing in CW, Pop and Oldies. She sings lead and harmony and is the bass player in this band.
Cliff "Mudcat" Smith plays drums, harmonica and sings lead and harmony. He has performed on cruise ships, played sessions in recording studios from New York City To San Francisco, specializing in Jazz, Blues, Pop and Rock & Roll. He has performed and traveled with many top stars on the road and in Nevada. His formal music training also enables him to arrange vocal and instrumental scores.
Albert Pomar, lead guitarist, has traveled the world playing music of all styles from Ballroom to Blues, Pop, Soul, Disco, Rock & Roll and ethnic music. He located in Oregon after living and playing in the Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam, Germany, Guam and California. He is regarded by the music community here in Portland as one of the finest and most-applauded guitarists in this area. He also sings lead and harmony.
Cactus Davis rounds out this group on keyboards and vocals. He's been quoted as saying, "I'm just a honkey-honk player from Ketchikan, Alaska," but when you hear him, you see that there is more talent than that humble statement allows. In earlier years, Cactus represented the State of Alaska at Carnegie Hall, performing for the Pope and Queen of England. He has the ability to remember hundreds of memorized lyrics from previous decades, which enables the band to answer a lot of song requests. Cactus also worked with Taska in Alaska for five years in the 1980's as her drummer in a band called "Taska & The Outlaws."
This is a lively, well-groomed, energetic bunch of performers, ready to tailor the music for your event and exceed your expectations!
