The Professors of Soul have become a household name throughout the Southeast as one of the best wedding and event band around! The Professors feature the best singers and top musicians to provide an ultimate musical and entertaining experience for your wedding reception, cooperate event, or party. From classic Soul, R&B, Beach, Disco, Funk, Jam Band, Jazz, to Top 40, The Professors puts their unique touch on to every song they perform. Group Members Monty Craig (Bandleader, Guitar, Bass), Craig Sorrells (Vocals, Trumpet, EWI), Whitney Walters (Vocals), Jamie Wright (Vocals), Tony Christopher (Drums), Tez Sherard (Vocals, Drums), Hazen Bannister (Keyboards, Vocals), Brad Jepson (Trombone), Charles Hedgepath (Vocals) Band Bios: Monty Craig - "The Professor" is the band leader, founder and guitarist for The Professors of Soul. Monty specializes in smooth, silky guitar playing with a jazzy, R&B feel. Monty also heads up the jazz combo program at Clemson University. Craig Sorrells - Craig has become a staple figure in the upstate music scene performing with Warren Haynes, Laura Reed, The Work, The Gypsy Souls, and The Craig Sorrells Project. His earthy, New Orleans vocal style alongside his trumpet playing makes him standout as a monster performer and entertainer. Craig is the ultimate MC and makes everybody feel at home. "Big Tez" Sherard - Many of you know "Big Tez" Sherard from playing drums and singing backups throughout the US and the world with Edwin McCain, Mack Arnold and the Plateful of Blues. But only in The Professors of Soul is he featured out front as a lead vocalist. Without having to concentrate on drums, Tez can concentrate on belting it out for you with his unique and rich baritone voice! Jamie Wright - Jamie has been building a steady reputation on the scene as the leader of The Jamie Wright Experience and singing backups with Whitney Walters. Jamie can belt it out and specializes in Aretha Franklin. Jamie's enthusiasm gets everybody in the mood to party! Whitney Walters - Whitney is a local star in Greenville, SC, being featured on TV, Radio and sporting events. She loves to get funky and can really sing and dance! Whitney specializes in sultry, smooth R&B. Charles Hedgepath - Charles is the newest member of the vocal team. Charles is well known for Folk, Bluegrass, Grateful Dead, and Americana styles. He brings a unique sound to The Professors including Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and Neil Young. Hazen Bannister - Hazen is the newest member taking on the Keyboards and Organ chair along with some backup harmonies. Hazen spent 20 years on the road with The Swinging Medallions and backing up the likes of Little Richard, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Pearcy Heath, The Tams, and a countless list of other famous R&B stars. Hazen also teaches jazz piano at Clemson University and is endorsed by Hammond Organs. Mark Dye – Mark is most well-known for his bass playing in The Work. Mark lays down the funk on Bass and also will step into the vocal spotlight as well on some more of our rocking numbers and some Grateful Dead. Tony Christopher - Drums are at the heartbeat of any band and shapes the sound of a group. Tony has the best beat in the business and never plays too loud. Dancers love Tony and he can keep everybody on the dance floor all night long! Tony is regarded as a first call studio drummer and club date player. He performs with The Mike Frost Band, Sound Factory FunkShua, The Calvin Edwards Trio, and fills in for many other groups. Brad Jepson - Brad is one of the funkiest trombone players on the scene today. With Craig on Trumpet these two create a funky and tight horn section.

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on June 17, 2013From Boone, NC

The Professors made our wedding an awesome event! If you don't love them - you don't love good music. On top of their amazing talent and huge repertoire, they were easy to deal with, accommodating, and offered to learn any songs we wanted. You WILL NOT be disappointed!
