Radio Daze is living proof that everything old is new again! For the past 5 years, we have been recreating the fun, joy and entertainment of classic, old time radio for enthusiastic audiences wherever we go. Whether our audience members are old fans of the great stars and iconic shows of the Golden Age of Radio. . . or even if this is their first visit with the likes of Hope and Crosby, Martin and Lewis or Burns and Allen. . . everyone who experiences Radio Daze discovers that, even though the golden days of old-time radio are long past, the songs, the stars and the entertainment that it spawned are timeless. The performances we recreate are just as fresh today as they were originally. And everyone leaves Radio Daze with a smile on their face and a song in their heart.
As your guests enter, they have been “transported” back in time and they are in a radio studio of the 1940's. The old-style microphones are set in place, the “On The Air” sign is up, and the room is filled with the popular hit songs from the great singers and spectacular big bands of the day. Your guests are now the studio audience, being entertained by their favorite radio and film stars who are performing live “on the air.” The immortal radio shows that are being recreated before their eyes (and ears) feature timeless songs, classic comedy and even delightful dance routines from stars such as Frank Sinatra, Abbott and Costello, Jimmy Durante, Al Jolson, Martin and Lewis, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Debbie Reynolds, Lawrence Welk, Will Rogers, Jack Benny, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Burns and Allen, Eddie Cantor and many others. Just as it was when these shows were originally broadcast live, Radio Daze shows include the live commercials, original theme music and live sound effects that authentically recreate that golden, unforgettable era.
At Radio Daze, we have compiled a large collection of original scripts from a wide variety of famous radio programs. So, when practical, we can choose to recreate the shows and performances that will resonate with your guests. And, of course, we always begin with a welcome and introduction to help set the mood, give context to any audience members who might be experiencing this kind of a show for the first time and to be sure that everyone is primed for this unique, sentimental journey.
You might be wondering how we decided to perform old-time radio shows. The truth is, we originally wanted to do a show that recreated classic TV shows of the 50's and 60's. But that was a little too difficult to do in a traveling show that often performs in smaller venues and homes. But then we realized that many of the great TV performers of the 50's – the likes of Jack Benny, Burns and Allen, Abbott and Costello -- had their roots in radio. And radio was much easier to recreate and travel with! So we researched hours and hours of old shows to find the most iconic and classic performers, songs and shows from the era, choosing only the very best. And thus, Radio Daze was born!
We really love the songs, the stars, the commercials and the comedy routines that defined old-time radio, and we bring that passion to every performance we deliver. We share our enthusiasm and delight with the audience, ensuring that every performance is a memorable one for every guest in attendance.
Being that Radio Daze is both a live stage show and at the same time an intimate re-creation of magic moments from the golden age of radio, we are “in our element” when performing in medium to large venues such as theaters and ballrooms. Yet we are equally adept at tightening or staging and dialing up the intimacy when performing in boardrooms, rec rooms and living rooms.
Radio Daze target audiences range from senior citizen groups to corporate retreats and team builders to social and community non-profit groups. We have been very successful and well-received as the featured entertainment at fund-raisers for a variety of religious and secular groups and organizations. We also are a great entertainment choice for birthday parties, anniversaries and other life-cycle events. Needless to say, we are a popular choice for groups of “the greatest generation” who are familiar with our content, but we are very popular now with baby boomers, and we love to introduce and share this marvelous entertainment with younger generations as well. And we are always very meticulous to contextualize the content, making it very accessible to new audiences.
