ABOUT THE BAND
Winners of Gigmasters' Rising Star Award in the Jazz Trio category for three straight years (2010-2012), the Sam Graham Trio was formed in 2002. Since then we have performed hundreds of gigs, from the hilltops of Los Angeles (The Getty Center) to the basements of New York (the Jazz Lounge at CBGB's), from restaurants and bars to open air concerts, private parties, weddings, corporate gatherings, and numerous other events.
While we draw on an extensive repertoire of jazz standards popularized by Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, Mose Allison, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and many more, we also explore our roots in pop and rock music with innovative and surprising (and swinging) adaptations of songs by Nirvana, Metallica, the Doors, Tom Petty, even AC/DC, Radiohead and the White Stripes. We can play jobs that call for an all-instrumental song list, all-vocal, or a combination of the two.
All in all, it adds up to a singular style: JAZZ FOR MODERNS.
Our group offers four musicians for the price of three, with bandleader Sam Graham handling both guitar and vocals. Although we usually perform as a three-piece (guitar-vocals, bass, and drums), we can add others musicians and singers as requested.
ALSO: for those with more limited budgets, Sam Graham has also booked gigs as a guitar-bass duo. And if your space or your budget is really small, Sam also performs solo, either unaccompanied or with pre-recorded backing tracks featuring a complete jazz rhythm section.

"The Sam Graham Trio was absolutely fabulous! We hired them for our wedding to play during the cocktail hour and part of the reception. The guests loved them and several asked for Sam's business card. They were professional, friendly, accommodating and prompt(despite a far drive and rainstorm). Their musical selection was perfect and I would hire them again in heartbeat. Having a live band was such an amazing way to do something different than just having a DJ. "I hired Sam Graham's Trio for my son's wedding at Trump National and he was fabulous! Sam accommodated all of my changes and requests for the event and was so nice to work with. His professionalism really showed, and he and his associates are first class in every respect. The music was great, right volume and the right type for cocktail and dinner hour and they even added vocals- and learned our requested special songs.. When Sam played and sang Everything by Michael Buble, everyone danced and commented how wonderful it was. I cannot express my thanks and appreciation adequately in this note but i can tell you that you would never go wrong hiring Sam Graham Trio!!"

"The crew was very friendly and played any/all requests we made. They had a smooth style and everything they played was easy to listen to. My wife and I did extensive research in looking for a group to play at our party. We liked what we heard from the "Sam Graham Trio" on the internet and LOVED what we heard in person. "Sam and his trio were perfect for our intimate (60 guest), not-quite-traditional wedding in Palm Springs. I searched a lot for a jazz trio that did would sound authentic and not like muzak. They were perfect -- real jazz, not the 'lite' stuff, sprinkled in with jazzy interpretations of contemporary music. Sam's wonderful voice is matched by the excellent musicianship of his sidemen. The music was the right combination of classic/classy and quirky -- in the background when it needed to be and in the foreground when appropriate. We couldn't have asked for a better soundtrack for our wedding day. I give Sam Graham and his trio my highest recommendation!"
