Formed at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., Altra Strings prides itself in performing music in support of charitable events and is dedicated to promoting the just causes of non-profit organizations. The members derived their name from the noun altruism, which means the principles or practice of unselfish concern for or devotion to the welfare of others. While the group concertizes frequently around the Metropolitan area, members have also performed across Europe, South America and the United States, winning competitions and performing with numerous musical groups and festivals. They have also enjoyed performing in prestigious venues such as Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center, New York's Carnegie Hall and Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, among several others.

Not only have the members of Altra Strings performed for prestigious events all over the world, they also serve the Washington, D.C. area and surrounding areas for any special occasion you have.
