Richard Stillman Musical Variety Shows

Square Dance calling, Banjo playing, storytelling, tap dancing, hat tricks, rope tricks, mandolin, guitar, ukulele and bagpipes.I have appeared on P.B.S. TV's Shining Time Station with Ringo Starr, on Broadway, & at the Kennedy Ctr. Reviews: "deftly offhanded bravura"-New York Times, "a real show stopper" New York Post.

FOR SQUARE DANCES I usually work with a guitar player who accompanies the dances while I call. In between dances, we work as a duo and I play banjo and mandolin. I also spin some cowboy ropes and perform clog dancing as part of the show. I can work with a full Country band as well.

SINGING TELEGRAMS 1. Banjo gram- with either a Country or Dixieland outfit
2. Bagpipe gram- In full kilts either Irish of Scottish
3. Italian gram - serenade on the mandolin
4. Hawaiian gram - with ukulele and Hawiian shirt outfit
5. Australian gram- with a digeridoo


FOR CHILDREN'S BIRTHDAY PARTIES I sing children's songs on the banjo, do cowboy rope tricks with my big ropes and then pass out little ropes for the kids to try. I do some tap dancing and teach the children dances as well. Then the children get to play my musical washboard while I play the banjo. If the children are into listening quietly I tell them stories that they participate in. If they are more boisterous, we do tap dancing/ juggling routines together while I play the harmonica. I finish off the party by playing my bagpipes with the children marching behind me.

IRISH SHOW- I perform and all Irish show in schools and theatres that combines Irish storytelling, step dancing and music on banjo, guitar,mandolin, pennywhistle,and bagpipes.

INTERNATIONAL SHOW- This show weaves music, storytelling, and dance from many countries. Dances include: Tap,Irish Step,Chinese Ribbon and Flamenco dancing. Some of the instruments are: Scottish and Spanish bagpipes, mandolin, balalaika, Australian digeridoo, Puerto Rican cuatro, and African drums. I tell stories from many countries and can customize the show to your interests.

I have performed on the children's TV show Shining Time Station, on Broadway and at the Kennedy Center. I bring some unique and well honed skills to my work and am deft at adjusting my performances to the needs of each party.
