Description
Established since 1989, the Hartford Steel Symphony has been providing musical enjoyment around the New England Area for many years. Our musical genre consists of Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Pop, Classical, Gospel and Jazz; all with an island rhythm. The band is comprised of members that have all competed in several years of steel band competitions and musical extravaganzas. With these countless performances, the band has continually finished at the top of the competition. Besides competitive playing, the band has enjoyed playing with celebrity figures in a host of charity, personal and independent events. Among these celebrity performances, we have had the honor of hosting events with Bernadette Peters and Aundrey Hepurn. The band has also performed with other musical tycoons such as The Hartford Symphony Orchestra as well as one of Steels bands greatest panist, Len 'Boogsie' Sharp. In addition, the band has provided community entertainment by participating in statewide parades and events such as Hartford First Night, UCONN championship recognition parades and various town music festivals. On a smaller scale, the band has provided private entertainment for many satisfied customers during graduation parties, school assemblies, wedding receptions, Luau's and many other private events. On a more personal level, while staying in touch with our historical roots, the band proudly participates in the annual Taste of culture and various West Indian Celebrations during the summer months. The band performs under the musical direction of Kelvin Griffith.
We are able to fulfill the entertainment needs of all those interested in our services. There is no performance to big or two small for the Hartford Steel Symphony. We truly believe we are a steel band for ALL occassions. Please contact us! We look forward to hearing from you.

Feedback
- I was extremely pleased with the energetic performance of the Hartford Symphony Steel Orchestra at our Caribbean Expo. They arrived on time and thrilled the audience with their Caribbean rhythms. I appreciated their flexibility and calmness in the face of certain technical difficulties that occurred during the program. I will definitely invite them again next year. They were terrific!!!

- The Hartford Steel Symphony was quite accommodating. Even with very few in the audience, they maintained their professionalism and continued with the performance as scheduled. -- Cheryl B, Hamden, CT, 4/17/2006
- We really enjoyed the group, they were very professional and accomodating. They played a broad selection of music, from popular to carribean. The entire event took place with no issues, they arrived exactly when they said they would and played per our agreement.
I've seen the group perform in several parades in the Hartford area and did not make the connection until speaking with them at the performance. They are flexible and have the capability to accomodate virtully any function.
When first looking for a group, we considered solo performers but decided on this group because of the number of musicians in the group - we're glad we made this decision. With multiple people, it provides an added dimension. -- Leroy B, Enfield, CT, 3/2/2005
- They were very professional. We enjoyed the music and it was perfect for our venue. -- Kathy V, Farmington, CT, 8/30/2006
