DESCRIPTION:
Established since 1989, the Hartford Steel Symphony has been providing musical enjoyment around the New England Area for many years. Our musical genre consists of Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Pop, Classical, Gospel and Jazz; all with an island rhythm. There is no performance to big or to small for the Hartford Steel Symphony. The band is comprised of members that have all competed in several years of steel band competitions and musical extravaganzas. With these countless performances, the band has continually finished at the top of the competition. Besides competitive playing, the band has enjoyed playing with celebrity figures in a host of charity, personal and independent events. Among these celebrity performances, we have had the honor of hosting events with Bernadette Peters and Aundrey Hepurn. The band has also performed with other musical tycoons such as The Hartford Symphony Orchestra as well as one of Steels bands greatest panist, Len 'Boogsie' Sharp. On a private level, the band has provided entertainment for many satisfied customers that include graduation parties, school assemblies, wedding receptions, Luau's, Holiday Parties and many other types of events. On a more personal level, we have provided community entertainment around Connecticut by participating in parades and events such as CT's First Night, UCONN championship recognition parade and Firemen Appreciation parades around the city. In other state based events, we have also performed at the Special Olympics and the Taste of Hartford. The band performs under the musical direction of Kelvin Griffith Sr.We are able to fulfill the entertainment needs of all those interested in our services. Please contact us! The Hartford Steel Symphony was quite accommodating. Even with very few in the audience, they maintained their professionalism and continued with the performance as scheduled.

We really enjoyed the group, they were very professional and accomodating. They played a broad selection of music, from popular to carribean. The entire event took place with no issues, they arrived exactly when they said they would and played per our agreement.
I've seen the group perform in several parades in the Hartford area and did not make the connection until speaking with them at the performance. They are flexible and have the capability to accomodate virtully any function.
When first looking for a group, we considered solo performers but decided on this group because of the number of musicians in the group - we're glad we made this decision. With multiple people, it provides an added dimension.
