Description
The Sound of Central Park Steel Band has been in business since 1968. We live and work in Las Vegas and never charge a transportation fee if the event is within city limits. The band has its roots in New York City's Central Park which lanched a highly successful business and was pronouced Best Band by the Westsider Weekly. The band was featured on the WCBS TV show 'Dave Marash Reporting' and has also appeared in the Dustin Hoffman movie, 'Who is Harry Kellerman'.
Major Las Vegas Appearances - 2006: Nevada Children's Cancer Society - Las Vegas Marathan - Ballys - Mirage - Margaritaville at the Flamingo - The Green Valley Ranch - Rio - The Golden Nugget, Laughlin - Harrahs, Laughlin
The Sound Of Central Park has also performed at major building openings (Citibank), played at fashion shows for NYC department stores (Alexanders and Ohbachs), at Caribbean showcases (2003 San Francisco Caribbean Summerfest), and at Steel Drum Show Cases (Eli Mannatte's Festival of Steel - 2005). The group routinely plays at Wedding Receptions, Private Parties, Corporate Functions, Trade Shows, and other types of events too numerous to mention here.
We play a large cross section of music including traditional calypso, latin, island, rock, standards, and popular music and use state of the art backing tracks that have been supplemented by some of the best musicians in the country in order to offer a superior sound and value.
Our steel drums are the finest in the world - manufactured by world renowned steel drum pioneer, Ellie Mannette and his disciples. We have been going strong for 38 years now and this experience translates into solid customer experience.
The mixture of American and Trinidian members represent a tremendous musical fusion. Let us make your next function, a truly joyous and memorable one!

Feedback
- I appreciate the opportunity to leave my feedback concerning The Sound Of Central Park Steel Band. They showed up an hour before they were to start playing, set up and started right on time.
These guys sounded great, Panman Dave and Ironman Rudy really brought the party to life. They sounded like a 10 piece band and we really enjoyed their mix of Caribbean, Latin, and American music. They even played some requested songs which made our guests very happy.
I would recommend them highly to anyone wanting to have some great steel drum live entertainment. -- Arnold F, Las Vegas, NV, 5/28/2006
- We really enjoyed having The Sound Of Central Park play at our private party. The music was awesome and we couldn't believe the fullness of the band. Our guests danced to many of their numbers and they really rocked our party. They were very professional and we a pleasure to deal with. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing a true touch of steel pan for their event. Rock on SOCP! -- John M, Las Vegas, NV, 5/20/2006
- Sound of Central Park gave our party the vibe it needed. We hired them for a corporate event and our clients could not have been more pleased. Panman Dave and his team played a great variety of music that transported the party from the busy Vegas strip to a sandy beach in the islands. They were prompt, courteous and professional. We would absolutely hire them again.
