Marion Grodin Stand Up Comedian from Teaneck, NJ

I have been a Nationally Headlining Comedian for the last eighteen years. In that time I have opened for such greats as Linda Ronstadt, Lewis Black, and Robert Klein, as well as sharing the stage with Colin Quinn, Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chapelle, and Roseanne Barr. I have performed for audiences as large as 1,500 people, (ie The Annual Kennedy Gala in Hyannisport, The HELP USA Gala at The Plaza, The Juvenile Diabetes Gala alongside Mary Tyler Moore at the Chelsea Piers, etc....as well as for audiences as intimate as thirty people (ie. Birhtday parties, Anniversaries, Divorce Parties, Weddings, etc...) My specialty is being able to custom-make my show for whatever the event is, and whoever is in the audience. When appropriate, I gather comedically pertinent information about various attendees, so that the show is more personal, and truly feels tailor-made. Another of my specialties is improv, and being able to just riff with the audience - again, when appropriate. This all contributes to the audience getting a more personal and memorable show. All of this has led to my being in demand not only as a Headliner, but also as a Host! In addition to comedy clubs, and a wide array of other venues (ie Theaters, Private homes, Foundations...) I have also Headlined a plethora of events for various philanthropic organizations, such as The Children's Health Fund,, Fundraisers for Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis, Blindness, Drug/Alcohol Recovery, and the Annual Gilda's Club Gala in Westchester. I, myself, am a breast cancer survivor, so I have a deeply personal connection with these audiences and have performed at numerous events for Survivors - Most recently Headlining, Rhode Island's Hospital for Women and Infant's Gala. I am also a published author. My first book, "Standing Up: A Memoir Of A Funny (Not Always) Life" was recently published by Hachette, and I just completed a thirty city tour of Jewish Community Centers all over this country, as well as in Canada. Before completing my book, I also wrote for two network sitcoms, as well as having a three picture deal as a screenwriter with Twentieth Century Fox. I have been on the Conan O'Brien Show, and The View, twice! I also made many on-air appearances with my Dad on "The Charles Grodin Show." I always knew that comedy was in my blood, but this was even more deeply confirmed, when my Father told me recently that his Grandfather was a Talmudic Scholar who was..."known for making the Torah humorous". I love people, and I love the unmatchable connection and catharsis that comes from deep, deep belly laughs! I am a firm believer that laughter truly is the best medicine!
