DESCRIPTION:
Fans of the rock and soul music of the 60's and 70's would agree that trying to track down new artists who employ a big band sound has be a formidable task indeed. For example, most horn groups in the vein of Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears and Average White Band have been driven into extinction mainly due to artists who shamelessly exploit modern advancements in music technology (i.e. synthesizers, drum machines). Nowadays, rhythym and blues bands have chosen to ignore the mighty muscle and intricate phrasing that a sizeable horn section can offer and have opted for a glossed over sound replete with digital production feats and artifical beats.
However YORKTOWN is currently escavating the bones of these legendary dinosaurs, who have once dominated the pop charts, and has been busy arranging their own compostions to help resurrect the colossal sound of the 70's.

This band can jam! We booked them to play for our wedding and, in retrospect, it was the single best decision we made in planning the event. The band was prompt, curteous and professional, and that was before they even picked up their instruments. When they started to rock out, lets just say they took our party to the next level. All I heard from guest after guest was, "where did you get this band?!" That is, when they weren't busy getting down on the dance floor.
I will heartily recommend Yorktown to anyone who wants a kickin' party.

We booked the group for 4 hours of music. They were terrific, taking our requests but drawing on a solid repertoire of classic soul and R&B. They made the party move! Very professional and very fun. Highly recommended.
