Booking Soul Bands

Soul music originated in the Mississippi Delta around the time of the Civil War. During the 1940's and 1950's, Soul musicians like Muddy Waters and B.B King were the early pioneers. In later years, rock bands like the Rolling Stones and guitarists like Eric Clapton were heavily influenced by the early Soul musicians, and incorporated many elements of Soul in their music. Soul bands are commonly comprised of a lead singer, guitar, drums, bass, piano/keyboards, and harmonica. There are many different styles of Soul music often based on the place of origin. Examples include the electric sounding Chicago Soul, the guitar-led Memphis Soul, the rhythmic Mississippi Delta Soul, and the swingy Texas Soul. Other styles of Soul include Country Soul, Jazz Soul, and Gospel Soul. Soul Bands can be hired for any occasion including weddings, corporate events, and private parties.

Tips For Booking A Soul Band

3. Book early. A great soul band might need to be booked 3 to 6 months in advance.

4. Get a contract and read it carefully. Most professional soul bands will also require a deposit in order to secure them.

5. Follow up with your soul band as often as you need to. Don't be shy about making sure your soul band knows exactly what type of entertainment you want!
