Description
I have been performing since I was a teenager and love what I do. I sing and play piano, keyboard, and acoustic guitar in a variety of styles from jazz standards (Great American songbook; the repertoire of Tony Bennett, Sinatra, Diana Krall, etc.), as well as more contemporary styles (60's to the present) from smooth jazz, rock, blues, funk, latin, Broadway, New Age, reggae, country, and traditional and contemporary folk songs including Irish and Spirituals.

"Lawrence receives our highest recommendation, and we look forward to booking him again! He delighted our guests with his superior musical performance skills, pleased them with his wide repertoire, impressed them with his flexibility (when the birthday girl wanted to sing a song and dance a few steps), and charmed them with his personality. He did a good job of selecting songs based on the age of and type of guests as well. He was prompt and professional, and he even put a lot of effort into making the contracting/payment process easy for us. The birthday girl was delighted with him, and so are we! Simply "excellent" in every way". -Lisa W, Beverly Hills, CA
"Larry's mastery of the keyboard is unquestioned, with a subtle rhythmic touch that delights the listener. But his real strength is his smooth-as-silk voice, which naturally floats to cover a wide range of both pitch and emotion."
"You absolutely can't go wrong with this very excellent and professional performer. His music hit the perfect note for our wedding ceremony and celebration. We were so happy with the vast array of possible songs and instrumentals and our guests had many compliments for the music."
"Larry did an excellent job providing the music for the ceremony and reception at our wedding, the music was just what we wanted, simple and classy, yet fun. He was so easy to work with and really accommodated us and listened to what we wanted. Thanks again Larry!"
As a soloist: I can sing and play piano or my keyboard, and/or sing and play acoustic guitar. With back up tracks (recorded by real pro musicians) played through my Bose sound systems I can be a one man band singing and playing along with drums, bass, guitar, strings, etc. accompaniment; also soloing with realistic instrument sounds played from my keyboard (flute - 'Ain't No Sunshine', soprano sax - 'Summertime', and muted trumpet - 'Comin' Home, Baby').
I can also play beautiful solo piano background instrumental music to create the perfect mood in a traditional jazz style ('It Had To Be You') and/or contemporary jazz or pop/rock styles ('Comin' Home, Baby', 'Time After Time'), and/or New Age music, and some classical ('Pachelbel Canon', 'Jasmine Corridor -orig. composition', 'Pavanne For A Dead Princess').
There is more music on my website. Listen in 'Standards', 'Contemporary', 'Wedding Ballads' or 'Background Instrumental' (links on lower left).
I also offer solo acoustic guitar music for wedding ceremonies. Listen to 'In My Life' for a sample and go to my website and click on 'Wedding's for more details.
I'm available to perform as a duo (sax, trumpet, flute, violin, guitar, etc.), trio, or larger ensemble with some great versatile musicians. Scroll down my website homepage to see more details.
I play through two Bose cylindrical sound systems with their amazing innovative technology providing by far the clearest, fullest, stereo sound available for live performance; sounding great in the smallest room or large venue, and really have to be heard to be believed. My system can also be used for your announcements.
I offer DJ services during breaks.

- I grew up in a large extended family that always had music playing and everyone joined in with the sing along songs during our house parties. So for my Mother's 80th Birthday celebration, I decided to hire Larry to join our house party and play piano for Mom. From the moment he began playing, my Mother joined him in song for virtually 3 hours, non-stop! He played several Irish tunes that my Mother knew by heart, several standards and fun sing along songs that everyone could sing. Although our voices may not be exactly on tune, Larry played the piano and sang along with all of us. He was a wonderful guest, fabulous piano player and we all enjoyed the celebration. -- Carrie S, Santa Barbara, CA, 12/16/2011
- larry, was very accomodating and very professional. He was absolute pleasure to hear. -- Rita G, Calabasas, CA, 12/19/2009
- My sisters and family were pleased we Mr. Duff. He was very accomendating and a pleasure to listen to. I would highly recommend Mr. Duff. -- Kristeeann V, Los Angeles, CA, 5/16/2009
- Larry was very accommodating and professional. We received SO many compliments on the music! The piano was amplified well and could be heard clearly during our very windy outdoor ceremony. Larry was willing to learn a song for my processional and discussed the music with me several times over the phone to make sure everything went smoothly. -- Kristin G, Paso Robles, CA, 6/12/2010
- Our guests thoroughly enjoyed him. He was a real hit! I would highly recommend him. The only suggestion that I would offer is to play more instrumentals (1 for every 4 vocals). A real crowd pleaser! -- Nelson T, Chatsworth, CA, 5/1/2010
