In 1976 I was playing backup guitar at an old-time fiddler's jamboree in Michigan. During a break, I expressed an interest in learning to play the fiddle. One of the fiddlers handed me their fiddle and bow, and said "give it a try! " (off stage, of course!). I was mesmerized by the instrument and experimented with it.
