Velvet Rut shows are an exciting blend of dance, pop and rock-n-roll covers. We cover artists from the 60's to the present, and the quality of the music played is far beyond the standard bar band fare. Always aware of the atmosphere and our audience, we can keep the dance floor packed, or play softly to allow the crowd to relax and enjoy conversation, drinks, or dinner. For ten years plus, Velvet Rut has entertained throughout the mid west region and State performing at wedding receptions, private parties, festivals, and corporate events to high critical acclaim. As the band leader, drummer and lead vocalist for Velvet Rut, Jack Kennedy has the ability to sing with strength and conviction without missing a beat. Jack is also a professional sound and recording engineer and handles all the bands sound requirements and needs. We are proud to welcome accomplished bassist Chris Demott, who brings a wide and interesting variety of musical tastes and influences into the band and keeps the groove moving. Chris also provides back up vocals. Guitarist Bones Malone brings over 40 years of playing experience to the band and also provides backup vocals. Velvet Rut has written music for independent films, award winning documentaries, professional sports team stadium anthems, and commercials for clients such as "Yamaha" and Colorado Springs filmmakers "Watt Imagination!". Velvet Rut has also been featured in the nationally distributed guitar magazine "The Guitar Edge", for our presence and outstanding reputation in the Rocky Mountain region.
