Velvet Rut shows are an exciting blend of dance, pop and rock-n-roll covers. We cover artists from the 60's to the present, and the quality of the music played is far beyond the standard bar band fare.

Always aware of the atmosphere and our audience, we can keep the dance floor packed, or play softly to allow the crowd to relax and enjoy conversation, drinks, or dinner. For ten years plus, Velvet Rut has entertained throughout the mid west region and State performing at wedding receptions, private parties, festivals, and corporate events to high critical acclaim.

As the band leader, drummer and lead vocalist for Velvet Rut, Jack Kennedy has the ability to sing with strength and conviction without missing a beat. Jack is also a professional sound and recording engineer and handles all the bands sound requirements and needs.

We are proud to welcome accomplished bassist Chris Demott, who brings a wide and interesting variety of musical tastes and influences into the band and keeps the groove moving. Chris also provides back up vocals.

Guitarist Kai Corns brings over 40 years of playing experience to the band and also provides backup vocals.

Velvet Rut has written music for independent films, award winning documentaries, professional sports team stadium anthems, and commercials for clients such as "Yamaha" and Colorado Springs filmmakers "Watt Imagination!". Velvet Rut has also been featured in the nationally distributed guitar magazine "The Guitar Edge", for our presence and outstanding reputation in the Rocky Mountain region.

• The band was outstanding during our Ice Breaker Event on 7 Feb . It was a 70's theme, and the band members made the effort to dress in 70's attire. They were extremely low maintenance, and I was very appreciative considering how many hours went into planning this event. The music was excellent and truly set the scene for the entire night. • An absolutely phenomenal evening. The wedding was at a country club in Denver, and we wanted to go with a rock band, as opposed to the typical "wedding band". There were 150 people in attendance. The wedding goers (of all ages) raved about their song selection and they were very professional, showed up well on time, and proceeded to play a 3 hour set of great 70's, 80's, and 90's rock, but with unique twist to it. We asked them to learn a few songs, which they did, and they were performed brilliantly, The flow and groove had people dancing all night. • After seeing the setlist these guys have, I didnt think they would be as good as they were. Actually, I was a little scared until they played their first song. They kept everyone entertained and on there feet. Their musicianship was second to none. They werent too loud and they were true professionals in every way. • From initial contact they were very professional and courteous.Our member base for our club is Military affiliated and ages vary from 21 to 80. None of which are the least bit shy in asking for special requests or dishing out criticism. The band members accomodated all our requests with the very best atitude. • Velvet Rut was awesome. For starters, they were very responsive to my emails leading up to the event (questions etc). The day of our party, they arrived an hour early to set up. They were extremely polite and fun. The best part was their performance- INCREDIBLE. My guests and I were blown away!
