Peggy Murphy Payne
Peggy is no stranger to the Arizona music scene and has been touted as one of the Women who Rock Arizona. Peggy, also known as Murph, was the co-founder of the hugely popular regional new wave band, Blues Shoes in the 80's. She was the front woman and keyboardist for the band as well as the co-writer of the majority of songs. Blue Shoes released several EPs including “Better” and finally a full-length LP, “Put On Blue Shoes”, in 1980. Several of the songs have appeared on shows such as Bones, Parenthood, Awake, Parks & Recreation, Being Human, and most recently, in the movie The Frozen Ground.
Peggy has always loved the piano and percussion and has incorporated that love into her music since she began playing in bands at 13. She grew up loving the British invasion era and other influences include Jars of Clay, The Call, Crowded House, Matt Maher and Spilled. She attributes her ability to think creatively as an artist comes from her many years participating as a church soloist and choir member. Peggy has recorded, performed and toured with various blues and rock groups.
Tim Picked up the guitar at age 11 and hasn't put it down since. He grew up listening and playing to artists like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. Other influences include Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin, James Taylor and Phil Keaggy.
Tim has performed, toured and recorded with various rock bands since he was 13. In addition to guitar, Tim plays bass and sings. Tim is a solid, dynamic, straight-ahead guitar player and he embraces a natural ability to hear chords and write music. Most of Tim's musical adventures have been on the east coast while Peggy's adventures have been mainly on the west side of the states. To listen to them you would think that they were destined to join musical forces-and they did.
Tim and Peggy started Spilled back in Petersburg, Virginia, as an answer to God's calling on their lives. They moved to Arizona (back to AZ for Peggy) in 2011 and continued writing songs in hopes of releasing an album at a future date. That future date has arrived and their debut album, The Plan, was released on October 5, 2013.
In 2013 Spilled expanded to a full band. Now, they can not only perform acoustically, but also rock the house when given the opportunity.
