Description
Hidden Agenda Band is "Detroit's Ultimate Party band." HAB is Larry Pinho on guitar, Marshall Allen on vocals, Kat Orlando (Pinho) on vocals, sax and flute, Jeff Campbell on keyboards, D.C. Washington on bass and David Freeman on drums. Hidden Agenda Band is high energy dance and R&B. HAB opened for Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes at the Phoenix Center Pontiac. Also hired for to back up National recording artist Spyder Turner. Other notable clients include the Nordstom's Novi and Somerset as well as Greektown, Motor City and MGM Grand casinos. Each year the band performs numerous private parties, weddings and corporate events. On average the band is gigging between 100 to 140 gigs per year.
The Hidden Agenda Band is often referred to as "Detroit's Ultimate Party Band". The band members are all influenced by The Motown Sound, R & B, funk and smooth Jazz. One of the strongest rhythm sections around, DC Washington and Ron Otis bring strong Church rhythms to the mix. When you add that to top 40 or Funk, Rock, or even country you get a very unique sound. When Kat plays her horn with so much soul and David Allen lays down a jazz feel on top, the possibilities are endless. Larry Pinho adds "electrifying" solos to give the HA sound its flavor.
Having a male and female lead singer makes this band stand apart from the rest. Marshall Allen is the consummate entertainer connecting with the audience as only he can. He offers various styling of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Jeffery Osborn. Marshall nails the vocals of Bill Withers and Lou Rawls, so much so that the band has been accused of faking it or lip-syncing. Kat's singing is reminiscent of Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin. Whether she sings, dances, plays the sax, flute or harmonica, the crowd is thoroughly engaged. It is very powerful when Kat and Marshall sing a duet. The band's newest addition is drummer, Ron Otis. Ron's playing pushes the band to another musical stratosphere. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that he also plays for Kem, Ronnie Laws, Earle Klugh and other national acts.
This band is also exciting because they are wireless and totally live.
