+ style Although my photography skills and my editing techniques are both important elements to the consistency of my work...I always feel kind of uncomfortable with being defined by a certain "style". In my opinion...one of the most beautiful things about the art of photography is the ability to always change, to always grow, to always be creative in new and unexpected ways...and never, ever, to define your "style" to the point that you feel a lack of freedom to break away from the norm. So...my philosophy regarding photography is far more important than my style. + philosophy The most important things to me in a session are to capture elements of real life, real relationships, real expressions, and real connections between people who love each other...and then to use those captured images to create photographic art. Real life...just a little bit prettier! I love color and texture and gorgeous light...so I actively look for those elements when I am choosing my locations. I tend to shoot in unexpected places...places that most people wouldn't ever look twice at. My clients generally trust me to choose locations that fit within the vision that they've shared with me for their photo sessions...but, I always welcome location suggestions from my clients as well. So...if you have somewhere in mind that is special to you I am always happy to work with your location ideas. I also love fashion photography...which is a huge element in my high school senior and model work, but I always encourage adding style and fashion to your images through clothing choices and creative posing. Although I am not a huge advocate for posing...I do position and guide you throughout the session in order to create images that are both deliberate and candid at the same time. I realize that I am not going to be the right photographer for everyone...and that very fact is one of my favorite things about the art of photography...art is extremely personal. If my art appeals to you, and you connect with my work, then we are going to work perfectly together. I firmly believe that it's very important to hire a photographer who you connect with and who you feel shares your vision for your portrait session...because ultimately you want your relationship with your photographer to be a long term relationship. The majority of my clients become friends...I feel that our relationship is so important to capturing the true essence of a family...and I'm honored with every opportunity that I have to do this job that I love so much.
