In a pinch, a few weeks before my daughter's wedding, I had no pianist. The pianist my daughter hired, did not prepare for the ceremony and did not know any of the songs we requested. Frantic, I found Juri on GigMasters. Juri rearranged her schedule so that she could play that day. Throughout the process and up until the day of the wedding, she communicated with me knowing the questions to ask and making sure she was prepared. Juri began her musical career playing classical piano at age 3. She joined her Mother's rock band as a keyboard player at age 4. At age 11, she won her first composition competition in her region in Japan. Born and raised in Japan, Juri came to the United States for the first time at age 17 as an emissary for the Japanese Government and was greeted by the Japanese Crown Prince and Princess. After returning from the U.S. she decided to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. She received a world tour scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music at the age of 21. Juri is the former president and founder of her own nonprofit organization, Genuine Voices , which taught music to juvenile offenders in the Department of Youth Services and at-risk youth in the Greater Boston Area. Along with her musical career, Juri enjoys motherhood, and maintains a modeling, reiki practitioner, consultant and jewelry career.
