For piano music for weddings, receptions ranging from 30-40's as well as semi-classical, musical theater and classical Clifford Robinson has over 40 years of playing venues of all types.
Beginning his study of the piano at the age of eight, Clifford Robinson was soon playing for his church services (age nine) both on the piano and organ and gained acclaim as an organist by age 13. He continues to play professionally and performs as a recitalist in both Canada and the United States.
Clifford has studied with Edward Parker (a well know teacher and recitalist in Canada), Steven Lansberry (a retired concert pianist in Vancouver Canada), Richard Kessler (a Doctor in Piano Performance from Boston University) and Duane Hulbert a renowned professor of Piano at the University of Puget Sound, recitalist and winner of several prestigious piano competitions.
Clifford finalized his concert career touring with the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra performing as part of Camille Saint Seans' "Carnival of the Animals", Dmitri Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony and as a soloist playing Sergei Rachmaninoff's First Piano Concerto. He has not only been a solo recitalist with an extensive repertoire ranging from the works of Chopin, Scriabin, Liszt, Schumann, Brahms, Prokofiev, Schubert, Debussy, Ravel, Grieg, Tschaikowsky, Von Weber, Mozart, Bach, Dvorak, Gershwin, Manuel de Falla, Beethoven, Villa Lobos, Maurine Dela, Mendelssohn, Kabelevsky, Francois Morel, Bartok and many others, but has also been a significant favorite as an accompanist for numerous instrumentalists and vocalists including Lawrence Vincent, Professor of Voice and Opera at Brigham Young University, local favorites such as Anjte Farmer, Kim Cooney, Sharla Dance, Cecile Farmer and Danee Robinson and numerous amateur and professional instrumental and vocal students and accomplished artists, including students of Dr. Thomas Harper - Voice chair in the Music department at the University of Washington.
Classically trained, Clifford received his A.R.C.T (Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music) in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy in 1984 with First Class Honors and has degrees form the University of Puget Sound as well. While at the university, he won their prestigious Concerto contest. Mr. Robinson has also played with numerous ensembles including the Rhapsonic Piano Trio, performing repetoire from Dvorak, Mozart, Beethoven and others, and performing with them widely throughout the Northwest. Clifford continues to actively perform as a recitalist and as part of chamber groups, is a widely used accompanist and provides music upon request for special occasions.
He currently actively teaches the piano, serves in his church as an accompanist and organist for his congregation and for special multi-congregational events sponsored by his church. He is also one of the few private teachers in the Lynden area who teach theoretical music subjects including theory, history, harmony, analysis and counterpoint in both private and class venues as part of offered curriculum.
