ABOUT THE GROUP
The William Foley Group plays music that bridges the gap between pop, jazz, classical and singer/song writer styles. We are not stuck in a genre. Whether it's a Chopin waltz played in a jazz style or a Beatles tune played in a whole new way, what you will hear creates a delightful and fresh ambiance. Many of the songs you know and love are arranged in a distinctive way that adds a level of sophistication to your event. The William Foley Group has been performing in the nationally for 30 years. Mr. Foley is a graduate of the jazz studies at the University of North Texas. He has also studied in New York City with Kenny Werner and at Columbia University in New York City.

Most groups play the same old songs in the same way. Mr. Foley is not only an arranger that can bring new energy to a standard, pop or classical tune, he is also a composer. He has written many beautiful songs that can be inserted into a set of music that adds a unique flavor. Some are heroic movie themes. Others are up beat funky tunes or engaging pop ballads. Some of these songs might work very well to introduce a person, a couple or to give emphasis to an announcement. Also, Mr. Foley can compose a song for a specific purpose for the event.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL
When playing a private function the most important thing for a bandleader is to be keenly aware. This means that if we need to start a few minutes early, we do so. It means I check with the client to see if our volume is right. It means playing a longer set if it's going to help the flow of the event. And it means being in good communication before the event so everything goes smoothly.

SOLO PIANO
William Foley has a very special touch on the piano. Aside from playing many standards and pop tunes he has a solo CD of original compositions that are sometimes inserted into the music he provides to his clients. These are intriguing compositions that take you on a journey and delightfully surprise you. With a keen interest in harmony and strong melodies that take you places, William Foley's compositions defy easy classification. Evocative and soul-stirring, with jazz and classical influences, each piece leads listeners on a journey deep within. The melodies invite resonance along the full spectrum of feeling, from quiet melancholy to expansive joy, grief and sorrow to serene awareness. These players have appeared on radio shows like What Do You Know or playing in groups like Polyphonic Spree. Adding an original composition into a set of cover songs here and there adds a dimension to the music that you won't hear anywhere else.
