With over 175 years combined experience, and the 2010 and the 2011, Rising Star Award Winner, in the Folk Music catagory. We have played in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. We'd love to play your event. Three of our band members are in the Atlanta Country Music Hall Of fame. The Bluegrass Sound Band is available for private functions as well as public, including Weddings, picnics, homecomings, company parties, benefits, festivals, reunions, Birthday parties, and many others. Our rates are competitive as well as fair. We cover all decades of great bluegrass music. From the early tunes of the late Bill Monroe, to the ever popular tunes of Ricky Scaggs, as well as Old Crow Medicine Show, Vassar Clemons and Jerry Garcia. We do it all, as we please the audience with our quick wit, funny costumes and general love for the craft. They are not done with special effects, at a studio. What you hear is what you get, with us. We will play just about anywhere we are wanted, provided that we have enough lead time to prepare. We are members of the Southeastern Bluegrass Association. We also furnish our own PA system and sound engineer with each of our shows, included in our fee. Bio for Eric Gant.-----He has been with us for about 10 years. He plays the Mandolin, Lead Guitar, Fiddle, Keyboard, Ukulele, Piano and teaches music in his own studio. He plays Bluegrass, Blues, Funk, Rock n' Roll, Reggae, Classic Country and regular country. He has a new CD,"Chalice", which is his own distinctive sound. He portrays, integrity and a deep love for the Craft. He has been playing and singing, music over 30 years.
Bio For Gerry Hall----He has been playing music over 50 years. He had his own band, "Broad River" for over 30 years. He is in the Atlanta Country Music
Hall of Fame as a musician and a teacher. He has his own studio and teaches all the instruments of Bluegrass as well as Voice. He has been with us about 4 years now.
Bio for Jerry Burke----Jerry is 83 years old and has been playing the fiddle over 60 of those years. He also has his own band and also teaches the Fiddle and
Mandolin. He has been playing with our band about 4 years now. He is also in the Atlanta Country Music Hall Of Fame. He is an excellent Fiddle player.
Bio for Jerry Wesley---Jerry is 70 years old and has been playing the fiddle seriously since he was 20. His interest of Bluegrass comes from the fact that
his Uncle, his dad, and his father in law, all are musicians. They all inspired him and he chose the fiddle, where he is excellent at playing it. He joined the
Bluegrass Sound Band, last year.
Bio for Dane Avery---He started playing music at 6 years old, now 68 years old. He plays the Harmonica, Guitar and Mandolin. He sings lead and harmony.
Dane has been married 43 years and has 5 children and 16 grand children he is an Ordained Minister and a retired Pastor. He joined the Bluegrass Sound Band in 2009. He is an excellent musician ans singer and We're happy to have him.
Bio for Herb Vann---Herb has been playing a Bluegrass Banjo , Earl Scruggs style, over 50 years. Herb has 2 children and collects Antique Cars. He has been playing with us for 9 years now and doing a great job of it. We are happy to have Herb with us.
Bio for Jim Miller---Jim plays the Upright Bass Fiddle and sings. He has been singing or playing music since he was about 14 years old. He also plays the harmonica. Jim started playing Bluegrass at age 61 and has not stopped yet. Jim is now 74 and still thumping that old bass and loving it. Jim has been married 25 years and he and Sue have 9 living children together. 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. They belong to the Shilo Hills Baptist Church in Kennesaw Ga. Jim also manages the band.
Bio for Mac Cochran---Mac has been playing the Doboro and Banjo over 50 years. He also is a great singer. He played with the Southern Dogwood, the Dixie Sounds and the Bluegrass Sound Band. He has been with our band 10 years. He has been married 50 years. He is also a Past Master Mason and belongs to Glenrock Baptist Church. He also teaches music.
The Bluegrass Sound Band also has several musicians, who are excellent pickers and singers, but do not have time to be in a band as a regular member, but can and do, play, when one of my regular member can't make it for one reason or another. These musicians are HAND picked and are great musicians. We're happy to have them all on our team. Thanks to them, we are available most any day of the week, any time of day, most any gig.
