Led by pianist Kerry Politzer, Bossa PDX is Portland's classic bossa nova and Brazilian jazz band. We perform lovingly transcribed arrangements of Gilberto Gil, Roberto Menescal, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, João Donato, and Tom Jobim compositions, among others. We also play a selection of upbeat Brazilian jazz tunes. Our instrumentation includes vocals, piano, sax or flute, guitar, bass, and percussion. (The Portland Mercury calls us "pleasantly propulsive," and we think that's a good description.) We perform around Portland, Salem, and Eugene, and have played the Florence Wine & Jazz Festival and PDX Jazz's Lan Su Garden series. Other upcoming dates include the Oregon Coast Jazz Party and the Lincoln City Cultural Center. If you want a sophisticated musical experience that is both soothing and uplifting, we are your band.

Working with Kerry was wonderful, she was very prompt with communication and the booking process was very easy. We loved her skilled playing and the soft solo jazz piano style and selections. Kerry performed for the background music to a wedding reception for us. Very professionally handled booking and excellent performance, thank you Kerry!

Kerry was professional from the start and good about communicating pre-event to discuss what we needed from her performance. She arrived on time, a little early, and was prepared. She played all of our requests and rolled with some adjustments during the party.
