Derek is the former lead singer of THE GOLDTONES, a popular doo-wop group from NJ, best known for their 2004 recording of I BELIEVE (which featured Derek's lead vocals). The recording was a hit on many doo-wop radio programs around the country. Derek is now performing as a solo singer and DJ, and is available for events of all kinds! Derek's live performances feature him singing I BELIEVE, as well as his interpretations of popular hits from the 50's & 60's. In addition to his live singing, Derek also provides full DJ/MC entertainment, and has a very extensive collection of music from the 50's through today. Derek's charisma, song choices, and years of experience as an entertainer always gets people of all ages out onto the dance floor!

Derek is one of New Jersey's best and most popular entertainers in the doo-wop and oldies genre, and has many years of experience as a singer, recording artist, and entertainer. Derek was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and now lives in northern New Jersey. In addition to his work with The GoldTones, Derek has also worked with various other music groups over the years. He was formerly the lead singer of the doo-wop group STILL AROUND, and also a former member of the oldies band JUKEBOX MEMORIES. He has performed at many shows and events throughout the eastern United States, and has appeared on several radio and television programs. Derek has also performed at various oldies concerts which starred legendary doo-wop recording artists including The Vocaleers, The Continentals, The Dubs, Nicky Addeo & The Night Owls, Della Griffin & The Enchanters, and The Del Vikings. He plans to continue his efforts to help keep doo-wop and rock'n'roll oldies alive, and to help introduce the oldies to new generations of listeners!

• I changed the date of my gig kind of last minute & Derek Evan was very willing to accommodate me. Not only did he respond promptly to my inquiry, but he was early for the gig & was very personable. He sang great & everyone seemed to really enjoy his performance. When his performance time was finished, some people wanted to hear more. Derek Evan performed some additional songs & did not charge me any extra for it. He was also friendly to my guests, and had no problem hanging out a little after his show to chat with them. • Derek Evan was very professional from the first time I contacted him all the way through until the end of his appearance at my event. He was very good to work with, and his performance was really great! He sounded just as good live as he did on his recordings, and the crowd really seemed to enjoy the show. He has a good personality and seemed very comfortable performing in front of people. He sang alot of great songs including the 2 that I requested which were "Earth Angel" and "In The Still of The Nite". I also like the fact that he did some sing-a-longs with the audience on some songs. It got everyone involved and one person won a free CD. I was surprised that Derek Evan knew so much about the music of the 50's & 60's, but he actually seemed to know more about the music then alot of the people who grew up in that time. Some of his jokes were a little too goofy for my taste, but he did have a few good ones and the people seemed to have a good time. I would definitely hire him again.
