Gary was leader of the largest ever cross-disability group to reach the Mt Everest Base Camp. Subsequently, he went on to personally summit Mt. Everest a few weeks later. Gary thus become the first ever person in the world to do so with one arm. Later the next year, Gary lead an expedition to the summit of the world's sixth highest mountain, Mt. Cho Oyu, located in Tibet. In April 2010, he also completed the grueling Marathon des Sables in Morocco - "The hardest stage race in the World" (CNN World News) - and recently, Gary successfully completed the Ironman 70.3 in Hawaii.
