DESCRIPTION:
The Swingin' Swamis perform an eclectic set of jazz and world rhythms. From 1930's jazz to 1970's funk and everything in between, it is the band's goal to present to listeners a wide range of popular as well as lesser-known music. Since 1997, The Swingin' Swamis have provided the music for hundreds of corporate and private functions, weddings, music and arts festivals, restaurants and night clubs. Noteworthy performances include: The Kennedy Center, MusikFest 2005, Artscape 2004 & 2005, The Ram's Head Live (opening for The B-52's), The Baltimore Museum of Art, and The Maryland Film Festival. Wedding Services: The Swingin' Swamis have provided the soundtrack for over a hundred weddings. Our wedding rates are based on start and end time, travel time and distance, parking if none provided, executing services other than musical performance (i.e. DJ and MC services). Additional costs include learning music outside of our current repertoire and performing for the actual ceremony. Depending on your budget, we offer a choice between the 5 and 6 piece band. We always provide a PA system and CD player. The wedding party, family and friends are welcome to use our PA system for toasts and announcements. Again, if cost is a concern, and there is no need for a PA system, we can offer the instrumental version of the band at a reduced rate. We have a two hour minimum. References are available upon request. Discography: The Swingin' Swamis (our debut CD recorded at Baltimore's ACR studios and released in April 2001),
Songs & Other Misdemeanors (12 original songs recorded at Baltimore's ACR studios and released in February 2003),
Sookie! Sookie! (16 Songs featuring the debut of Melissa Sharlat and released in March 2005),
Dancing Shoes (10 Song disc recorded at Invisible Sound Studios featuring classic songs such as At Last and Mustang Sally as well as original material. Released in April of 2007) References are available upon request.
