The Great Expectations Band

The Great Expectations Band is a 10 piece variety band that plays music from Frank Sinatra to Beyonce and has been performing music around the greater Washington, D.C. area for the last 10 years. They are a high energy, electrifying, courteous, prompt band and are comprised of a consortium of professional musicians who have performed all over the world. They perform at such functions as Wedding Receptions and Corporate Parties, and at various parties for George Washington University, in Washington, D.C. and have on numerous occasions in the Center Court at the Pentagon.
Usually the band performs for four hours and during the first hour while the guests enjoy their dinner and conversation we normally play quiet classical dinner music. After dinner is completed, we slowly move into the dance music which includes such songs as "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra and then work their way into the Motown/Disco Era.
One of the key signatures of this band is audience participation. To set the atmosphere with a romantic touch, Lolan will go into the audience and hand out live roses to the ladies. He will occasionally have some of the audience members sing such songs as "Sweet Caroline" with him. The audience also receives a special treat from Lolan and the band when they perform "A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. The audience will think Louis himself has entered the room and started singing.

• Although it sounds trite, The Great Expectations Band exceeded all my expectations! Lolan Gholston was engaging from day one...he responded quickly to all my requests, and was continually friendly & helpful...his energy & enthusiasm are boundless! Never having the pleasure of hearing them live, the band blew us all away...their talent & showmanship are unparalled. In fact, all the attendees at our event came up to me that night & said if I could secure the band again for next year, they would attend again & bring everyone they knew. Needless to say, we are excited to have them back next year & hope they become a staple in the Deep Creek Lake area! I recommend them highly!!! • I was absolutely blown away by this band from the second that I laid eyes on them! After meeting with Lolan, the band leader, it was agreed that our function could not accomodate the entire band so we scaled back to a Jazz Trio (keyboard, drums, sax). Our guests were beside themselves and thorougly entertained by how fabulously they performed. SHEER PERFECTION!! I will never have to look for another band again...Great Expectation TOTALLY exceeded my expectations (and my friends call me "Picky Nicki"!). Lolan, you may use me as a referance any day any time!
