Description

In 2009, the BigTime Party Band was nominated as "Best New Artist Of The Year" by the Carolina Beach Music Academy.

Here is an article that was written by the late Mike Lewis, Hall Of Fame DJ from Chapel Hill, NC about the BigTime Party band.

The BigTime Party Band, born in 2003, has quickly become one of the hottest bands in the Southeast. Playing traditional beach music, motown, rhythm and blues, southern and classic rock and a wide and pleasing variety of party favorites in clubs, community festivals, weddings and many corporate events, BigTime has moved to the forefront of both live and recorded bands in the region.

BigTime has enjoyed three (3) songs achieving Top 10 status on 94.9 FM The Surf's (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) beach music charts, with one going all the way to #1 and another to #4. This breakout recording and performing group has quickly solidified its position as one of the most requested in the area.

Signed by the south's premier label Ripete / KHP Music three years ago, BigTime regularly releases significant new music, with three such performances in April 2008 on a "gospel shag" compilation entitled, "Swoop Down Jesus" Volume 2, to go along with two other compilation CD's, "I Could Have Danced All Night" Volume 2, and "This Is It, Carolina's Calling Me", which were released in 2006 and 2007 respectively. In March of 2009, they released their long awaited 12 song CD, "Footprints In The Sand" which includes several excellent original tunes along with some great classics.

BigTime's very successful "Drink Up" shag dance and party anthem, along with their "Do Ya' Like", were recently inducted into The Surf 94.9 FM Hall Of Fame, indicating their elevation there to Beach Music classic status!

With eight (8) active performers, BigTime displays vocal range and strength many other bands cannot easily match. Running the entire gamut from the tenor voices of John Wilson, an energetic and charismatic front man and seconday guitar player, and Johnny Wilson the operations manager, founder & vocalist, the falsetto of ace keyboardist Bill Hancock, to the mellow stylings of Tiff Wheeler Hancock, herself a standout hit making performer, they personalize each song, impress you with their differences, yet wow you with their harmonious blend.

Add to this the skill and enthusiasm of Barry Briggs on guitar and vocals, the experience and precision of drummer Ernie Pryce, the solid drive of Todd Yanez on bass guitar, the exciting and mellow sounds of Craig Cottrell on sax and the technical expertise of sound engineer Lynn Hoffman. Again, wow!

Together they are the BigTime Party Band, always bringing the party to you! Listen here, give them a call….

Feedback

  • What can I say ? Big Time Party Band is easy to work with, do exactly as promised, and provide for a great evening !! Guests were pleased, walking around saying " best band we've had", the Country Club staff told me it was the best band that had played the club, and my personal dealings with them were smooth. Hope you hire them---I certainly will in the future ! Gary Lewis -- Gary L, Pinehurst, NC, 5/22/2010
  • The band was fabulous. One of the best beach music groups in this area. On time, professional, kept the guests on the dance floor until the very end. One suggestion, the band did play 80% beach / 20% dance.....so if you do have a crowd that is not all couples you may request a 50% mix. If you prefer all beach then this is as good as it gets. We will definately invite this band back for our next event. I highly recommend them. -- Carole M, Martinsville, VA, 12/31/2009
  • Bigtime party band was exactly what we were hoping for during our wedding reception. They were extremely accomodating to our schedule and flexible with special requests during the event. They were also reasonably priced. Johnny was very friendly and easy to work with as well. They displayed variety with their music and were sure to make sure my husband and I were having fun! They kept guests dancing all night. We would definitely recommend them with high regards to future couples. -- Quincy B, Stokesdale, NC, 9/13/2008
  • Big Time Party Band did a great performance, but that was not the best thing about our night. They were EXTREMELY accommodating with all of our special requests. We were behind schedule the whole night and they did above and beyond of what we asked them to do. Music was upbeat and the entire wedding party and guests really enjoyed the song list. Thank you for REALLY making our reception a success! -- Steve A, Greensboro, NC, 7/2/2011
  • Big Time Party Band really added to our daughter's reception. Their music was fantastic and everyone loved the music. We highly recommend them. -- Nancy P, Rocky Mount, NC, 6/18/2011
