The Mike McNeil Group is available to provide classy, subtle background jazz music for almost any type of event. The group plays music in a wide variety of feels within the jazz style. When you invite the group to provide music for your event you can expect to experience fun swing, serene bossa novas, relaxed funk and gentle ballads. The bands goal is to entertain and provide a classy atmosphere by providing background music, and as such, the music remains subtle and does not over power your event. The group can be included periodically throughout your entire event or can simply provide music for part of it (dinner music for example). The group can include vocals or can be purely instrumental. The group performs in many configurations so as to fit the needs and budget of the client and we can perform up to 100 miles from our home location (this is why our pay range described above is so broad {i.e. it varies based on the number of musicians requested, the length of the engagement and the work/travel required for a particular event as well as other variables}). A group consisting of anywhere between 2 to 6 musicians can be arranged for your personal event (more then 6 musicians are possible if requested). Music from Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Antonio Carlos Jobim are covered, as well as the music of many other great jazz composers. Mike McNeil, has a bachelor's degree in music, has worked as a cruise ship show band musician and has toured Canada and The U.S. as a professional musician. As a freelance musician based in Canada, Mike has performed at hundreds of public and private events over the last 4 years with many bands in and around his home town as well as other areas of Ontario and Quebec. Recent highlights specifically for The Mike McNeil Group itself include repeat requests to perform at numerous restaurants (including a fine dining restaurant) and providing music for a fantastic outdoor summer wedding very recently.

During the booking process you will be provided with answers to questions you may have, will be provided with a document that you can fill out to specify all the details you would like us to adhere to for your event and will be given any info you may require so that you feel satisfied that you have booked the right music for your event and that the musicians have the information they need in order to use their own initiative to fulfill the engagement based on your specifications. Before your booking is confirmed you will be able to choose the number of musicians and the specific instruments the band will play (or we can take care of arranging an appropriate group for you based on details you can provide relating to your event and what you hope to achieve with the music). The time the musicians set up, pack up, the music schedule and the dress code the musicians will follow can all be customized to suit your personal event. During your event the band can also easily and efficiently re arrange their playing schedule to accommodate impromptu speeches and other activities that may come up which we know are important to you and the success of your event.

Instruments you can choose from include piano, jazz drums, vocalist, bass, saxophone, jazz guitar, trumpet, trombone and many more (band leader Mike McNeil plays jazz drums, so all groups include drums).

Please note that the group plays background music that is suitable for events where people are talking, eating or engaged in other activities. The group is not designed for concerts where music is the main attraction people are specifically coming to see (i.e. festivals and private or public concerts etc..).
