Description

Ms. del Rosario draws you in with an uncanny grasp of the jazz, blues and soul idioms...Like Bill Evans and Miles Davis, the silences between the notes are always as emotionally telling as the words themselves."

-UK jazz critic, John Stevenson (E-Jazz news)

Marlene has performed for international and national audiences, most recently in a private function for Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick, Mayor Menino and MA senators. She has also performed for Philippine ex-presidents Cory Aquino and Fidel Ramos and Thailand's Princess Chulabhorn. She performs in solo and ensemble settings and is regularly at Boston's hippest venue for live music, the Beehive.

Her ensemble performed at the 2005 and 2006 Boston Arts Festivals, the famed Acton Jazz Cafe and Ryles Club for the UN-sponsored benefit to remove landmines in Mozambique, Worcester First Night and Boston tv's "Fernando's Hideaway". Her ensemble opened for legendary Cuban pianist, Omar Sosa at the 2008 Philippine International festival. She has also performed in Peru and appeared on Peruvian tv. Her second CD with Blue Earth Music, "Marlene LIVE With a Little Help From Her Friends" enjoys national and Canadian airplay and features New England's best, including Greg Hopkins (trumpet), Dave Landoni (bass), Brooke Soffermann (drums) and Patrick Mottaz (guitar).

New CD, Marlene LIVE With a Little Help From Her Friends is now available.

Feedback

  • It was a pleasure working with Marlene, she is professional with a friendly and upbeat personality. The sound of the band is true to the cd that you can hear on their webpage. I highly recommend the Marlene Jazz Trio/Quartet. Great band! -- Maribeth M, Sudbury, MA, 5/21/2006
