Sally Davis Trio Jazz Band from South Portland, ME

Solo jazz entertainer, performs in a trio as well as a quartet. I had the good fortune of growing up in a musical family. My father was a jazz pianist, my mother a singer and tap dancer. Family gatherings usually turned into musical jam sessions where individual performance was encouraged and enthusiastically applauded. I began my formal musical training at the age of 9 with the study of clarinet. At about age 11, inspired by my father's boogie bass lines, I requested piano lessons. I continued the study of piano through college, with the traditional focus on classical literature, but with a deep passion for jazz. I graduated from William James College with a BA in Expressive Arts, concentrating on music and dance. My performance experience includes playing piano and percussion, and singing many styles of music, including jazz, gospel, R & B, rock, reggae and classical. Some local bands I have played with include Rockin' Vibration (reggae), Jaybird Street (private functions), Jeff Scott Trio (jazz), and Maine's all-women big band, The Edith Jones Project. My latest venture is leading my own jazz trio, the Sally Davis Trio, which includes myself on piano and vocals, Ken Lloyd on bass, and Brian Plourde on saxophones and flute. In addition to performing, I teach piano at my private studio in South Portland, Maine.
