Description

Ten String Swing specializes in weddings and corporate events; for instance, we regularly perform at Harvard University alumni events. Although we typically play jazz standards, we often perform wedding ceremonies, playing classical guitars and flute, and then afterward switch to acoustic bass and jazz guitar for cocktails and dinner. We work closely with clients to be assure their complete satisfaction.

We will also expand to a trio or a quartet by adding another woodwind player and a drummer for dancing. We may also add a singer, and our bassist and saxophonist double on vocals, too. Our cocktail and dinner repertoire consists of classic jazz, Latin, and easy listening pop background music; for ceremonies we offer the traditional favorites for processionals and recessionals, and popular selections by Bach, Rameau, Handel, Beethoven, Telemann and Mozart.

For cocktails and dinner, composers like Gershwin, Cole Porter and Jerome Kern are well represented, as are the Beatles, Stevie Wonder and Latin composer Jobim. We also play more "straight-up" jazz like Miles Davis, Chick Corea, and Pat Metheny when the occasion calls for it. Jazz lovers are pleasantly surprised when we turn into a hard-swinging band after a polite set of Mozart, Bach and Handel!

Guuitarist Rich Falco, is Director of Jazz Studies at WPI. Bassist/flutist/guitarist Matt Brown has played and taught in New England for years, and was a member of the Marty Gilman Band. Saxophonist/flutist Jim Allard is a faculty member at Clark University. Additional members of the group are long-time associates with whom we perform frequently.

Feedback

  • Great musicians, very professional... great sound! We would highly recommend Ten String to anyone. Thanks guys! -- Lance V, Portsmouth, NH, 12/29/2007
  • Ten String Swing played for our company holiday party at the Boston Harbor Hotel. I received many positive comments from guests about the music and I found Matt and Rich to be very professional, competent and accommodating. There was an issue about amplification in the Rotunda, where the party was held, and TSS contacted the hotel's catering director prior to the party, as I requested, and worked out the problem. I highly recommend Ten String Swing and will hire them again if the occasion arises. -- Bonnie G, Boston, MA, 12/10/2007
  • My wife and I were looking for a talented smooth band since we set our wedding up to be romantic and intimate. Ten String Swing were just the performers we were looking for. The music was always smooth and present in the background, but there was enough energy to produce the mood we were looking for. We love to dance to swing music as well as listen to the easier side of jazz. I highly reccommend this group, they are professional, warm and very accomodating. It was a sheer pleasure having them part of our wedding. Thankyou Ten Strin Swing for your part in making our day so wonderful. -- Patricia T, Marion, MA, 9/1/2007
  • Matt Brown and the boys of Ten String Swing should be hired to play everyone's wedding in Boston and the surrounding area. If you want a top notch jazz/swing group these guys are it. I had asked them to play side one of Van Morrison's "Moondance" album which they performed with a female singer friend of mine. My friend and Ten String Swing never had a chance to practice. They just laid it down. Van Morrison would have been proud. People stopped dancing to listen. I have been receiving e-mails since I have returned from Rhode Island from our guests telling me how much they enjoyed the music. Feel free to e-mail me: graha4u@yahoo.com & I can give more details. -- Patrick S, Jamestown, RI, 8/4/2007
  • Loved them and the guests all enjoyed them as well. Have recommended gigmasters database to everyone. thanks -- Louise G, West Brookfield, MA, 10/7/2006
