Booking Jazz Bands

Jazz bands originated in New Orleans in the early 20th century. The 1940s is the only time in history when the popularity of live jazz surpassed all other musical genres in the United States. It was known as the the big band era of jazz band music, and during this time, swing jazz bands and big jazz bands reigned supreme. Jazz big bands like those of Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Count Basie, and others upheld the tradition through the 1950s and 1960s. Today, there are many types of live jazz bands that you can choose to have perform at your special event or wedding reception. There are small jazz combos which play light dinner jazz. There are big jazz ensembles (playing the classic jazz music of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Glenn Miller) who will get everyone dancing after dinner. Tips For Booking A Jazz Band

Hiring the right jazz band can be challenging, but Gigmasters makes it fun and easy! Here are five helpful tips for planning the perfect jazz music for your special event:

1. Listen to audio and watch video of as many jazz groups as you can. Jazz bands are plentiful on Gigmasters, and the typical jazz trio, jazz quartet, or jazz combo all have multiple audio and video samples available on their Gigmasters press kits.
