Born on Long Island NY, Bernie began playing Saxophone at the age of 10 and by the age of 14 was already earning both money and respect for his talents. After moving to FL in 1991 to open his own plumbing business and begin a family, Bernie was also busy putting together a talented rhythm section to compliment his playing style. His band, BMQ (Bernie Maloney Quartet), was well known in the area and regularly played various venues, charity events and restaurants until 2006. During the past 22 years Bernie has played with many talented and well known musicians such as The Rat Pack, "Live At The Sands" show, The Joey Renda Big Band (a Buddy Rich tribute band), The Ron Delp Trio, as well as partnering with Lee Farrell to lead The Cigar City Big Band for 4 years. Throughout his time playing, he has been both grateful and humbled to have been asked to play with such talented musicians in the Tampa Bay area.
Currently Bernie is performing with real jazz backing tracks. These tracks are real musicians, not canned or ringtone type tracks. They are some of the best musicians in the jazz community. All tracks are written and recorded by Bernie himself, to sound and feel as live as possible.
No smooth jazz, rock jazz, or any other commercial type of what is reffered to as jazz, this is the real deal, the music that made the path to a lot of today's music as well as a tribute to the real pioneers of jazz.
Bernie continues to carry the torch and uphold the tradition of the standards of jazz.
