Description

Gypsy Jazz Caravan is a New York City based acoustic ensemble that plays Hot Jazz inspired by the music of legendary French Gypsy guitarist, Django Reinhardt, and jazz violinist, Stephane Grappelli. The lineup includes: NY veteran guitarist, Marc Daine, who has recorded for RCA records and toured with the Broadway show, “Big River”; virtuoso violinist, Rob Thomas, who JazzTimes calls "a violinist of exceptional creative resources... riveting as a solo voice with a rich complex tone that can sing or shriek"; bassist, Mike Weatherly, who has performed for President Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, and Pope John Paul II and top NY Gypsy Swing rhythm guitarist, Glenn Tosto.

Feedback

  • Gypsy Jazz Caravan played during the cocktail hour reception for my wedding and they were beyond amazing and accommodating. I asked if it was possible if a couple of members from the band would be able to escort my husband and I from the church to the reception venue (weather permitting) and they were more than happy to. It was the perfect segue from ceremony to party and they did such an amazing job walking and playing at the same time. Everyone loved it and thought it was such a special touch. On top of that, they played amazingly during our cocktail hour. If you want a classy and fun wedding (since string quartets can sound so stiff) I really recommend this band. -- Jennifer B, New York, NY, 8/28/2010
  • Gypsy Jazz Caravan truly transformed our backyard tulipfest into a day in the park with the most wonderful sounds. they were professional but not stiff. fantastic mood setting music and yet at the same time, riveting to watch as they skillfully play their respective instruments. As if you had stumbled into the most amazing band in a park and wanted to lay back on the grass and listen for hours. i would highly recommend them. -- Adam G, Westport, CT, 5/2/2010
  • GJCaravan played for our daughter's wedding reception for 180. The music was wonderful, just right for our outdoor wedding at our garden where a lot of family musicians (who really know good music) were in attendance. They were all so professional, friendly, warm, and accommodating. I would definitely recommend them highly to anyone who wants an event filled with great music. Thanks so much to all four of them for helping create our magical evening. Hooray! -- Lake C, New Rochelle, NY, 6/11/2011
