The Wendy Clark Band is a new Denver-based original rock band that has evolved from Tequila Mockingbird (since 1996).
Active on the Front Range music circuit and indie scene since 1996, Wendy is a singer, composer, rhythm guitarist, band leader, independent-recording artist, manager, and promoter. Her music is classified under roots-rock but adds a unmistakable, playful voice and infectious melody combined with modern philosophic meanderings and 'been there, hated that' themes mixed with a twinge of nostalgia, lyrically-guided and guitar-driven, thoughtful, catchy, powerful, and kept fresh by delving into multiple genres, and WCB promises to knock the walls down with new technique and creative freedom.
Wendy has released three critically-acclaimed, full-length CDs under the Tequila Mockingbird moniker, has performed over a thousand festivals and gigs regionally including A Taste of Colorado, The Adams County Fair, The CHUN Peoples Fair (1998-2013), toured in the Rockies into Wyoming and through New Mexico, appeared on live television and radio (Denver's Channel 2 Evening News on The Deuce, KRFC FM in Ft Collins, and 1190 AM in Boulder), released dozens of videos (The Honeymoon and Catching On receiving tens of thousands of views on YouTube), and opened at sold out shows for favorite bands such as Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, The Samples, Rob Schneider, Chris Daniels and The Kings, warming up for Tim McGraw at Fiddler's Green, and sitting in with The Refreshments and Chris Daniels, backing up and performing several shows with Brian Blush (The Refreshments) and Jamon Scott (The Toluenes) as well as collaborating and recording with bassist Rob Squires of Big Head Todd and the Monsters on UFO (1998).
Wendy has worked with award-winning sound engineers/producers Eric Shiveley (Alien-American 2004) and Bill Thomas (UFO 1998, Luck and Trouble 2010) as well as multi-GRAMMY recipient, David Glasser. She has recorded tracks with Kenny James (of the Samples), Sean McIntyre, and more. She also contributes her time and talent to many area charity benefits annually, including running the 2011 campaign for CD Relief for the LLS.
With a new single and video in production, the Wendy Clark Band will start on a new full-length album and will feature guests and regular members of the band with Rhett Haney on bass and vocals, Jim Ruberto on bass, guitars, and sound, and guest lead guitarists including Brian Blush, Ryan Chrys and Greg Gladman - renewing the energy and spontaniety of a selection of Tequila Mockingbird songs, and releasing a brand new full length CD in mid 2014.
