Violetta Norrie

Violetta Norrie enjoys playing wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, private parties and corporate events. Her pedal harp is a 47-string 1920 gold Wurlitzer Orchestral Grand--it looks beautiful in photos and has a rich and vibrant sound.

Violetta and her manager meet personally with all bridal couples for a one-hour musical consultation in her studio to make sure that they get the exact music they would like. Violetta is fully insured - she carries both instrument insurance as well as performer's liability insurance.

Violetta has performed at many weddings and bridal showers in prestigious New Jersey and New York event facilities including Natirar in Peapack, The Liberty House in Jersey City, Marina del Rey in the Bronx, Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, Snuffy's Pantagis Renaissance in Scotch Plains, Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, The Addison Park in Aberdeen, The Valley Regency in Clifton, The Chart House in Weehawken, Amanda's in Hoboken, Il Tulipano in Cedar Grove, The Wilshire Grand Hotel, The Manor and Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, The Women's Club of Upper Montclair, The Bethwood in Totowa and La Reggia in Secaucus. She is equally comfortable performing ceremonies in church, parties in private homes, and has also played in-house corporate events. Violetta was a featured performer at The Medieval Festival of New Jersey in Long Valley and The Harp Festival of Philadelphia 2009.

Violetta is a member of The New York Youth Symphony and Chamber Music Programs and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Symphony Space in New York City. Violetta is a private harp student of Frances Duffy with whom she has studied since the age of six. In the past few years, she has performed in master classes for Isabelle Perrin, Principal Harp of L'Orchestre National de France, Elizabeth Hainen, Principal Harp of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Mariko Anraku, Principal Harp of The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Sarah Bullen, Principal Harp of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Kathleen Bride, Professor of Harp at Eastman School of Music, and Elzbieta Szmyt, Professor of Harp at Indiana University. She has served as Principal Harp of the Amore Opera Theatre Orchestra in New York City. Violetta has performed as Principal Harp in workshop performances of Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" and Bernstein's "Trouble in Tahiti" for the New York City Opera at Lincoln Center, conducted by Ryan McAdams. At the 2009 Salvi Harps Summer Institute in California, Violetta performed in recital and was a student of Maria Casale, Gold Medalist at the USA International Harp Competition, and Angel Padilla Crespo, international soloist and recording artist. Violetta placed second in the 2011 American Strings Teachers Association National Competition recently held in Kansas City, MO. She was an honoree in the 2009 American String Teachers Association of New Jersey Solo Strings Competition and the 2010 Solo Harp Competition of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Harp Society.

• Violetta played at our wedding and she was great!! All the prep-work we did beforehand (choosing songs, special requests, etc.) was SO easy.
