Harpist, Olivia Fortunato Harpist from New York City, NY

Olivia Fortunato began studying the harp at age 5, at the Hartford Conservatory in Connecticut, with Susan Knapp Thomas. Ms. Fortunato has participated and placed in the Connecticut Chapter of the American Harp Society Competition Beginner, Intermediate II, and Advanced categories. She has played with countless orchestras and chamber groups for ten years including the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra and the Hamden Symphony. In September 2010, she was a featured artist at the Boston Harp Festival, where she participated in an open masterclass with world-renowned harpist, Ursula Holliger and most recently, in October 2012, she was a participant in a masterclass with the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Principal Harpist, Jessica Zhou. Ms. Fortunato is a senior at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where she studies with Felice Pomeranz. She performs frequently with school groups and is a studio musician for Berklee projects. In November 2011, Ms. Fortunato won the Berklee Concerto Competition and performed the Gliere Concerto for Harp and Orchestra with the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra on November 2nd, 2012. Olivia is a member of the Musical Theater Orchestra performing in the annual revue and the 2011 production of "Ragtime". In the past, she has been in the pit for "Kiss Me Kate" and "Once Upon a Mattress". Olivia is a member of the Boston Harp Project, an ensemble of harpists who play jazz and pop repertoire. With this group, Ms. Fortunato has traveled to Ancenis, France to perform at the festival Internationale de harpe and New York City's Marriot Marquis in Times Square to perform for the American Harp Society Conference. In September 2012 they were featured at the Boston Harp Festival. Olivia is the featured harp soloist for the score of the documentary, "Watchers of the Sky", which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014.
