Nadia Pessoa is an award-winning harpist with more than 20 years of experience providing elegant music for weddings, receptions, and private events. As one of the most sought-after harpists in Washington D.C., she has performed at distinguished venues including the U.S. Capitol, State Department, the United Nations, Ford's Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall.
As part of her commitment to her clients, Nadia will personally work with you on selecting music that is unique, meaningful, and memorable. She takes great pride in handling each event with creative and thoughtful attention and can provide elegant music to accommodate any size of event and budget.
Recently, she performed with Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett at the Inaugural Staff Ball in January 2013, and Ford's Theatre's Annual Fundraising Gala at the U.S. Capitol. Nadia also served as featured harpist for the White House Christmas Party in 2006, and for the State of the Union Address receptions for the diplomatic corps at the State Department in both 2011 and 2012.
Other recent engagements include concerts with the National Philharmonic and Apollo Chamber Orchestra, corporate receptions at the Ronald Reagan Building and J.W. Marriott, the Washington Ballet's 2011 production of "The Nutcracker" at the Warner Theater, and weddings at leading venues including Trump National, Evergreen Country Club, Bristow Manor, 1757 Golf Club, and the Ritz-Carlton.
A few of the notable guests she has performed for include: First Lady Michelle Obama, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, Vice President Joe Biden, Dr. Jill Biden, Madeleine Albright, Martha Stewart, Condoleezza Rice, Gen. Colin Powell, Michael Douglas, Matthew Morrison from "Glee," Coach John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens, musical group The Civil Wars, Chef José Andrés, Joshua Bell, Michelle Kwan, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Nadia holds degrees from the prestigious harp program at Indiana University as well as the University of Michigan, and has been on the faculties of Louisiana State University, the Washington Conservatory of Music, and Howard University.
She regularly performs throughout D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland as an orchestral harpist with the Annapolis Symphony, National Gallery of Art Orchestra, Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, Catholic University, and can be heard on the 2005 Grammy award-winning recording of William Bolcom's "Songs of Innocence and Experience" under Leonard Slatkin (winner of four Grammy awards, including "Best Classical Album").

She kept in contact throughout the planning process and was especially helpful in selecting music that was appropriate to our wedding and fitting for our celtic theme. Her playing was MUCH COMPLIMENTED by all our friends and family. She was the PERFECT choice for our venue, the Old Post Chapel at Fort Myer in Arlington, VA. I cannot recommend Nadia highly enough.
