Kristin Lloyd is a professional harpist who has performed in a wide array of orchestral, solo, and chamber music concerts across the country. Kristin is classically-trained and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Rice university and a Master of Music degree in Harp Performance from the University of Michigan. While this background has given her an extensive repertoire of classical pieces, she is also skilled at adapting modern pop songs, as well as jazz standards and Celtic songs, for the harp. With such versatility, Kristin will provide a musical ambience that is perfectly suited to your event.
As a freelance harpist, Kristin has performed a number of high-profile special events, including the Houston Grand Opera Ball and the Napa Valley Film Festival Gala. She plays on a full-size concert grand harp. With this exquisitely beautiful pedal harp, Kristin creates a dramatic palate of musical colors and textures. You may prefer solo harp or harp as part of a chamber ensemble. Some possibilities include: solo harp, harp and cello, harp and oboe, harp and flute, harp and string trio, or harp and voice.
In addition to her work as a freelance harpist, Kristin is passionate about both performance and teaching. She has performed with a number of professional orchestras, including the Symphony Napa Valley (where she is currently the principal harpist), the Woodlands Symphony, and the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. Kristin also enjoys teaching harp students and doing music outreach. Ms. Lloyd is currently the harp instructor and a chamber music artist-in-residence at Pacific Union College. Additionally, she is a teaching artist in the arts integration program at Salvador Elementary and volunteers in the music program at Napa Valley Language Academy. She is dedicated to bringing classical music to those who might not otherwise have access to it and has performed concerts in settings such as schools, hospitals, and retirement homes, and community centers.
