Dr. Celia Chan Valerio

Dr. Celia Chan Valerio is one of the best harpists in Southern California and has been playing the harp professionally for over 20 years. With her extensive repertoire, her music will be perfect for every event. She offers many different instrument combinations from solo harp to harp duo (harp and violin, flute or cello) to harp trio (harp and two other instruments).

Celia has received many awards and prizes in various competitions including the Anne Adams Awards, American String Teachers Association--State and National Competition, American Harp Society Competition, Redlands Bowl Competition, and Music Teachers Association Competition. She has also been recognized on an international level in the USA International Harp Competition. She has performed as a soloist for the American Harp Society National Conference, World Harp Congress Convention, Indianapolis Arts Council, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and Brandstater Gallery Concert Series. She has performed extensively around the United States as well as Australia, Canada, France, and Mexico.

Celia is the former principal harpist of the Sarasota Orchestra in Florida and is currently the Adjunct Professor of Harp at La Sierra University and the Harp Instructor at University of California Riverside. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Loma Linda University at Riverside, CA and a Master of Music and Doctor of Music in Harp from the prestigious Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University at Bloomington where she studied under the direction of world-renown Susann McDonald.
