  • Annette Bjorling - harp

Description

Annette Bjorling is an experienced and versatile harpist, striving to make your special occasion even more special.

Annette's repertoire for solo harp or ensembles includes many tunes from Broadway and Pop, as well as Jazz standards.
Classical music reaches from Renaissance and Baroque masters to French impressionists, and modern compositions. Included are wedding favorites like "Here comes the Bride", Pachelbel's "Canon in D" or Schubert's and Bach/Gounod's "Ave Maria".

One of Annette's specialties is klezmer music, and various styles of East European and Mediterranean ethnic music. She also plays Celtic traditional tunes, other central European music, as well as originals and improvisation.

She is always happy to answer to special request in any of those styles above, or another musical style of your liking.

Annette Bjorling performs on an unique instrument, a custom made carbone-fiber lever harp by the luthier John Dorman (Alberta, Leduc, Canada). This instrument has a beautiful, strong and carrying sound, and is suitable for most situations, outdoors as well as indoors.
(Pictures and sound examples are available on her website - or via email.)

Annette is a member of several performing groups such as Chicago-based Duo Controverso with clarinetist Kurt Bjorling, and the ensemble Myridián. Annette has performed and taught at international music festivals and harp conferences in Europe and North America. Annette recorded CDs as soloist and with various ensembles. She is teaching private harp lessons at her studio in Evanston, IL.

  • I cannot begin to say enough good things about Annette Bjorling. She was completely accommodating, flexible and incredibly easy to work with. She thought of so many details, even calling to request our colors so that she could make sure her attire blended with the wedding. She was eager to work with our soloist and our pianist and facilitated every aspect of the wedding music. She has my highest recommendation and it was an absolute joy to have her be a part of our wedding day. -- Steven S, Evanston, IL, 3/14/2009
