Description

NYC pro solo acoustic guitarist/vocalist. Liability insured. Vast memorized repertoire (rock, pop, soul, light jazz, standards, oldies, post-1990 hits, holiday sets, progressive, bluegrass, classical, instrumental, traditional). Professionalism, musicianship and total client satisfaction are my focuses.

Pianistic approach to guitar. I learn by ear, by pouring over and molding with recordings, reducing orchestrated music to solo guitar/voice. Repertoire is performed 100% live and by memory, with no backing tracks, drum machine, lead sheets or lyric sheets. Vocal range is 3 1/2 octaves.

I've performed as a single at private homes, restaurants, mansions, yachts, hotels, clubs, business events small and large, weddings, and unique gigs such as serenades in airports, parks and wineries. In addition to solo gigs, I do occasional ensemble work, teach guitar, and join in local jam sessions.

My main axe is a Lowden 025-C custom-made Irish acoustic guitar. I also play Cordoba classical and PRS electric guitars. I use a 150-watt PA system for larger jobs, or a 50-watt portable battery-powered amp for smaller or outdoor jobs where there is no electrical outlet. For most gigs, I let it all hang out, but can blend into the background as appropriate. Requests are always welcome, and in the right situations, sing-alongs and guest singers too. Whatever it takes for everyone to have a great time!

Gigmasters 2007 Rising Star Award for Top Acoustic Guitarist.

Manhattan, NY-based; inquiries welcome for bookings locally, nationally and abroad. No agents or third parties. Looking forward to entertaining you!

Feedback

  • Scott was fabulous. The music was so appropriate, performed so well and at a perfect sound level, not too loud. I would recommend Scott to anyone and everyone. He is so talented and versatile. The music was just the right mix of pop and rock and some classical. I had so many guests positively comment on the music asking where we found Scott, so gig Masters got its plug as well. -- Ann U, White Plains, NY, 11/15/2009
  • Scott was great and our guests loved his performance! -- Amy L, Weehawken, NJ, 10/25/2009
  • From the very first phone conversation I had with Scott I knew I was in very good hands. He covered things that I never even thought to ask. He kept in touch from the time of booking to the wedding about every detail. He called a day or two prior to my wedding just to confirm everything and make sure I had no changes. The day of the wedding went perfectly. I had numerous guests comment on how good the music was and to ask me where I found him. Scott even learned two special songs that we wanted for our ceremony and they were done to perfection. Scott played a wide selection from the Beatles to Chaka Khan to Paul Simon to Seals & Crofts. Gradually the attention migrated to our living room where Scott had quietly captured the attention of our entire party with people singing along and enjoying his music. He was also very good at reading the crowd. All in all, I think the party was a great success and Scott's performance had a lot to do with that. -- Cathy E, Huntington, NY, 1/27/2007
  • Scott was wonderful. He showed up on time, actually a little early, he was well prepared, friendly and extremely talented. He kept the crowds' attention, accommodated special requests, got people involved, etc. I would most definitely recommend him for any type of event. -- Dawn C, Long Island, NY, 12/21/2006
  • Excellent! Scott is the best. He played accoustic music for our wedding ceremony and then did some of what he does best for the cocktail hour. He took requests and was very flexible and professional. I only regret that we missed part of his performance because we were out taking pictures! Lots of our friends even made a point of telling us how awesome Scott was. Dan & Tracy Betz -- Dan B, Long Island City, NY, 10/7/2006
  • Scott is a wonderful musician and provided us with exactly the kind of music and atmosphere we wanted to create for our wedding reception. More than one of our guests approached us during the course of the event and asked, "Where did you get this guy? He is terrific!". When I told them I found him on the internet their mouths dropped open in disbelief! We caught many people singing along with Scott and tapping their feet to the music. Even the children enjoyed themselves. Our wedding reception was a great success and Scott was a big part of it!! We highly recommend him! Thanks again!! Larry and Wendy -- Wendy W, Aspers, PA, 9/30/2006
  • Scott was absolutely wonderful in every respect. He traveled all the way to Princeton, NJ from NYC at no cost. He was extremely easy to work with and made me feel at ease at a time when things were getting a little hectic before my wedding. His range in music is amazing and played the perfect mix. His selections for the ceremony were beautiful. Everyone at my wedding was so impressed by him and people were disappointed he was only there until the end of the cocktail hour. I just wish we weren't taking pictures during cocktail hour so we could have heard him play more. I would recommend him to anyone for any occasion. -- Kristen K, Princeton, NJ, 9/23/2006
  • Mr. Samuels was a wonderful addition to our event. My guests were raving about him and I think several spoke with him about their own parties. He arrived on time. His music was wonderful. I would highly recommend Mr. Samuels. -- Dan B, Metuchen, NJ, 9/10/2006
  • many of our business colleagues want him for their next event. He was very good. thanks for a great time at my fiance's bday. -- Fran R, Brooklyn, NY, 8/29/2006
  • Scott gave an amazing performance! Everything was perfect! The job was everything I had hoped for and more. I contacted Scott to help me out with proposing to my girlfriend. I asked a lot of Scott to pull off this proposal and he played his part, (and his guitar) perfectly! On the last day of our vacation, my girlfriend and I went for a sunset walk on the beach, on the Gulf of Mexico. As we were walking, we happened upon an individual singing and playing an acoustic guitar. The individual sounded great, and we stopped and listened for a moment. After finishing a song, I asked the musician if he minded if we stood and listened for a minute. The musician turned and replied, "of course not, lay down your towels and sit for awhile." We stayed and listened to him play a beautiful, romantic song. I found a passerby to snap a photo of my girlfriend and I in front of the sunset, and while posing for the photo, I got down on my knee and asked my now fiance to marry me. She said yes, and I turned to the man playing the guitar and asked if he could "play us something special." The musician was of course Scott, and he then played "our song". It was after he started singing our special song that my fiance realized that this was no stranger, and in fact the musician was there to play a sunset serenade on the beach for the two of us. Scott was able to learn our requested song, meet us on the beach 1200 miles from New York, and play along with my plan until the right moment. All of this, without ever meeting me face to face. It was the perfect combination of planning and professionalism. Scott sounded amazing. The entire performance was perfect, and better than I could have hoped for. I look forward to calling Scott again to play at our upcoming wedding. -- Travis P, N Redington Beach, FL, 8/18/2006
  • Scott Samuels is a TEN! Every aspect of my relationship with him from the get go was absolutely absolute. He's a gentleman as well as a very talented musician. Our wine tasting was fantastic due in part to his presence. I will definitely revert back to gigmasters when the need arises. Thank you. -- Patricia A, Pomona, NY, 8/12/2006
  • I thought it would be hard to find great talent for a two hour exhibit hall event in Jersey City. Scott exceeded my expectations on his service and performance. I appreciated Scott's attention to detail; he really wanted to make sure the set-up and sound would be appropriate for this training industry event. He is extremely talented. I knew he was a hit when attendees asked for special requests from his playlist. The audience was having so much fun, he stayed extra time to complete an encore performance. Thanks Scott for making our opening night event a success. -- Sandra M, Jersey City, NJ, 6/25/2006
  • Scott really made my husband's birthday party a fun and unique event. I can't tell you how many people stopped me and said what a great musician he was. He interacted well with all the guests and encouraged requests--of which I believe he received quite a few by the end. In fact, he had so many at the end that he missed his cab because he didn't want to walk out in the middle of a song that everyone was obviously enjoying. From my perspective, Scott was very easy to work with and completely reliable. He was very responsive to all my questions and always confirmed the details of any conversations we had in the weeks prior to the party with a follow-up call or email. I would definitely book Scott again, and if what my guests were saying is true, he will be coming back down to DC in the future for a few more gigs. -- Jennifer O, Alexandria, VA, 6/9/2006
  • There is not enough words to tell how much we enjoyed Scott performance. He played for our cocktail hour and everyone I talked to was very impressed. He is a very accomplished musician, who can play covers or his own set of originals. Being a musician myself, I can appreciate the level at which he plays. I can definitely say that anyone that uses Scott will NOT be disappointed. -- Ben B, Edison, NJ, 5/7/2006
  • Scott was the key to my successful 30th birthday dinner party. Without Scott, the party would have been just another ordinary dinner party, but because of Scott's music, it was the most exciting party I have been to in years! Scott easily entertained a diverse group of people aged 25-35. He is extremely professional and everything I read about him and his talents was 100% accurate. I highly recommend him without hestitation as he is simply terrfiic! WORTH EVERY PENNY! -- Mark B, New York, NY, 12/17/2005
  • Scott was absolutely amazing. His ability to gauge the crowd, and select the perfect song every time was evident throughout his performance, and his diversity seemed unending. His talent was simply overwhelming, and my wife and I got much praise from the people at the event for selecting Scott. We ordered a special song that wasn't on Scott's list, "That's Amore," and Scott had it down perfectly by the party, note for note, it was wonderful. I would recommend Scott to anyone seeking a first class act, I simply have never experienced better. One last note, shortly after Scott set-up I had to make a request. I wanted to hear him do "Bohemian Rhapsody," because I saw it listed on his site. Scott played the entire song, including the interlude. My wife and I knew at that point, why Scott came so highly recommended! Thanks Scott, Mike and Chris D'Addario -- Christine D, Mountainside, NJ, 12/11/2005
