Description
Scott Samuels, NYC-based freelance acoustic guitarist/vocalist (also classical, electric and bass guitar). Performance, instruction, recording. Vast memorized repertoire, Bach to Rock, performed 100% live with no backing tracks or lead/lyric sheets. Professionalism, musicianship and total client satisfaction are my focuses.
Reducing and reworking ensemble recordings to solo acoustic guitar/voice, I incorporate all the parts, nuances, pianistic voicings and improvisation. Performances are engaging or background-blending as appropriate. Requests are welcome, and in the right situations, sing-alongs and guests singers as well. Whatever it takes for folks to have a great time!

- Scott was delightful to work with on every level. He was friendly, quickly responded to every request with clear answers, tried hard to fullfil all of my wishes even though some were for songs he did not know, and best of all was an excellent performer. He came early to be ready to start at the assigned time and stayed beyond the agreed upon time because he sensed that was what was needed. It was a memorial service so no one was really calculating the time, Scott just sensed the need for music. - We found Scott Samuels online and were not 100% sure what to expect. But I can honestly say that Scott made our event that much more special, and was truly the life of our party. He far exceeded our expectations, and tailored his music to a wide range of people. He would even listen to some of the kids songs for a few seconds, pick them up and play... Truly talented! - What can I say about Scott? Phenomenal? Superb? These words do not do him justice. Scott was a part of my proposal to my fiance. It was a unique and detailed event in which I made several changes the days before. He was exceedingly accommodating, professional, and friendly. When I told Scott of my plan he took the time to write out thorough and helpful emails of ideas and what he thought would work best. In addition, Scott had to learn a tune he had never heard before. - Scott was AWESOME!!! He truly was the life of my wife's surprise 40th birthday. Everything went without a hitch. His ability to play is absolutely amazing. - From the beginning, Scott was very professional and responsive. Each time we contacted him we heard back from him right away, so it made the planning process easy. We had fun passing out the lists of songs to guests who then took turns making requests. By nights end, the party turned into karaoke night, and Scott was a great sport. - From the very first phone conversation I had with Scott I knew I was in very good hands. He covered things that I never even thought to ask. - Scott was amazing. He kept the crowd's interest and played every song that was requested. He has hundreds of popular songs memorized and plays them with an original acoustic twist. - Scott Samuels was an excellent choice for our party. I was so pleased with his amazing talent. Scott was hired to play from 3:30 to 8:30 P.M. but the guest were enjoying his performance so much when asked if he would stay longer he said yes and played till 11:30 P.M. The guest ages ranged from Children to Teenagers to college graduates to 40 and 50 year olds to Seniors and everyone at the party really, really enjoyed Scotts music. - I had a surprise 40th Birthday Party for my wife Jill who was not looking forward to this milestone. I wanted some live music for our guests to enjoy without having to hire a complete band. Searching on Gigmasters, I found Scott Samuels.
The result was SCOTT SAMUELS ROCKS!
Our party of 40-50 people moved throughout our hime with only a few guests paying attention to Scott. Scott played a wide selection from the Beatles to Chaka Khan to Paul Simon to Seals & Crofts. Gradually the attention migrated to our living room where Scott had quietly captured the attention of our entire party with people singing along and enjoying his music.
Many of our guests commented where had we found Scott Samuels?

Our only regret was that I did not provide cigarette lighters to our guests so they could have given Scott Samuels the appropriate Concert salute for his five star performance!

- Excellent! Scott is the best. He played accoustic music for our wedding ceremony and then did some of what he does best for the cocktail hour. He took requests and was very flexible and professional. I only regret that we missed part of his performance because we were out taking pictures!

- Scott is a wonderful musician and provided us with exactly the kind of music and atmosphere we wanted to create for our wedding reception. More than one of our guests approached us during the course of the event and asked, "Where did you get this guy? He is terrific!". When I told them I found him on the internet their mouths dropped open in disbelief! We caught many people singing along with Scott and tapping their feet to the music. - Scott was absolutely wonderful in every respect. He traveled all the way to Princeton, NJ from NYC at no cost. He was extremely easy to work with and made me feel at ease at a time when things were getting a little hectic before my wedding. His range in music is amazing and played the perfect mix. His selections for the ceremony were beautiful. Everyone at my wedding was so impressed by him and people were disappointed he was only there until the end of the cocktail hour. - Scott gave an amazing performance! Everything was perfect! The job was everything I had hoped for and more. I contacted Scott to help me out with proposing to my girlfriend. I asked a lot of Scott to pull off this proposal and he played his part, (and his guitar) perfectly!
On the last day of our vacation, my girlfriend and I went for a sunset walk on the beach, on the Gulf of Mexico. As we were walking, we happened upon an individual singing and playing an acoustic guitar. The individual sounded great, and we stopped and listened for a moment. After finishing a song, I asked the musician if he minded if we stood and listened for a minute. The musician turned and replied, "of course not, lay down your towels and sit for awhile." We stayed and listened to him play a beautiful, romantic song. I found a passerby to snap a photo of my girlfriend and I in front of the sunset, and while posing for the photo, I got down on my knee and asked my now fiance to marry me. She said yes, and I turned to the man playing the guitar and asked if he could "play us something special." The musician was of course Scott, and he then played "our song". It was after he started singing our special song that my fiance realized that this was no stranger, and in fact the musician was there to play a sunset serenade on the beach for the two of us.
Scott was able to learn our requested song, meet us on the beach 1200 miles from New York, and play along with my plan until the right moment. All of this, without ever meeting me face to face. It was the perfect combination of planning and professionalism.
Scott sounded amazing. The entire performance was perfect, and better than I could have hoped for. I look forward to calling Scott again to play at our upcoming wedding. -- Travis P, N Redington Beach, FL, 8/18/2006

- I thought it would be hard to find great talent for a two hour exhibit hall event in Jersey City. Scott exceeded my expectations on his service and performance. - Scott really made my husband's birthday party a fun and unique event. I can't tell you how many people stopped me and said what a great musician he was. He interacted well with all the guests and encouraged requests--of which I believe he received quite a few by the end. In fact, he had so many at the end that he missed his cab because he didn't want to walk out in the middle of a song that everyone was obviously enjoying.
From my perspective, Scott was very easy to work with and completely reliable. He was very responsive to all my questions and always confirmed the details of any conversations we had in the weeks prior to the party with a follow-up call or email.

- Scott was absolutely amazing. His ability to gauge the crowd, and select the perfect song every time was evident throughout his performance, and his diversity seemed unending. His talent was simply overwhelming, and my wife and I got much praise from the people at the event for selecting Scott. We ordered a special song that wasn't on Scott's list, "That's Amore," and Scott had it down perfectly by the party, note for note, it was wonderful. I would recommend Scott to anyone seeking a first class act, I simply have never experienced better. One last note, shortly after Scott set-up I had to make a request. I wanted to hear him do "Bohemian Rhapsody," because I saw it listed on his site. Scott played the entire song, including the interlude. My wife and I knew at that point, why Scott came so highly recommended!
