  • Michael McCabe - Guitar

Description

Michael performs on nylon and steel string guitar. He has performed events for Chevrolet, Ping Golf Corp, Oscar Meyer, Wells Fargo et al. Michael has crafted his performances to specialise in weddings and special events. He has performed his own concerts and opened for Herbie Hancock, Tom Scott and Scott Cossu as well. Michael's been performing weddings/events for the last 33 years and since 1988 in Washington and Oregon from Skamania to Cannon Beach, Seattle to Eugene. His genre is Classical, Spanish Classical Spanish/Flamenco, Celtic, music of the 20's to the 50's, Bossa Nova, Brazilian, traditional Latin, Jazz, Gypsy Jazz, standards, 60's and 70's, Folk, soft Rock, Country, Blues, all instrumental and no vocals. Even though Michael has released four Cd's of original compositions and one of cover songs and a Christmas Cd, he still feels his wonderful clients want popular songs to enhance the event. Imagine an evening of original music that most likely no one's heard yet or an evening of popular songs that bring back the best of memories and will stay with them long after the event is over. He's all in favor of the latter even though he's had a lot of requests for his own songs. Michael bases his success on his variety of styles and his musical approach to each and every song, his great attitude and willingness to do anything to make each event a success. He'll even play a little longer so as not be a clock watcher. Don't be surprised if he doesn't take a break at all for he loves to perform. And now a little more about Michael. He has received world wide airplay from the US, Canada, Britain to Japan. Local radio station in Portland, Or. KMHD FM 89.1 has aired his music since 1988 and KINK FM 102 radio. since 1991. His music is featured on "KINK Lights Out 9 and 10". Proceeds from sales go to the Oregon Food Bank. Michael won an American Eagle Award from the CMAA in 1996 for "Songwriter of the Year". Michael's recording "Come back to Sorrento" from his release "Amor" is used in a sitcom in Canada called "Alice, I Think". He released a Christmas CD called "Acoustic Christmas" just last November 2006. And from that release the American Greetings Corporation is using his recording of John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" in a John Lennon Christmas ornament coming out in 2008. All of his 55 recorded songs can be found on popular download sites: itunes, SMS.ac, Musicforte, etc. Currently he's recording songs he composed and performed at weddings. This new release is titled "Together As One". Release date: 200?. Michael is always consistent in creating a wonderful and stress-less environment of musical enhancement. A few have said,"The music was the easiest to take care of, stress free.". With thirty three years of performing experience you'll receive the best professional music service you'd expect. Here's a quote: "Michael plays with passion that is so consistently missing from music these days. Listen to his writing. Listen to his guitar playing. You'll have a tough time finding one better". Kevin Welch Music Director KINK Radio 102fm, Portland, Oregon.

Feedback

  • Amazing! Couldn't have asked for a better Guitarist. Very professional, very talented, and has a true love for his art that came through in his music. We received many compliments on his playing from our attendees. If I ever have the opportunity to have another event with a guitarist I would call Michael without a second thought. -- Jason F, Seattle, WA, 7/21/2007
  • Michael was excellent in every way!! He added so much to our wedding. All of guests raved about him and he was very reliable and easy to work with. Couldn't have been better. -- Alexis R, Seattle, WA, 7/7/2007
  • Michael played for our wedding and was wonderful. He played great music with skill, and was very careful to provide mood and background music without becoming the show. We received many comments from the guest about how terrific he was and could they hire him for their parties. He was on time to set up and was not a clock watcher. I would highly recommend him for any event where you want beautiful and varied guitar music. -- Bill P, Washougal, WA, 6/23/2007
  • Michael was great. We booked him through GigMasters without any other references. He really made the ambiance warm and intimate at our Mother's memorial service. We got lots of complements for his playing. He was very accommodating. We would use him again in a heart beat. -- Melissa D, Tigard, OR, 6/3/2007

  • Very accomodating to our schedule and craziness that evening. -- Sabrina S, Portland, OR, 9/15/2006
  • Michael McCabe is one of the most talented and competent guitar players I have ever engaged. He has a wide repertoire, ranging through pop, rock, Spanish, classical and some of his own compositions and transcriptions. He played requests ranging from Beatles (Here Comes the Sun) to "Requeros" (probably the most difficult guitar composition ever written). His personality was as engaging as his music - he interacted very well with the guests, and was neither unapproachable nor pushy. He played all the requests that were made. To finish, he gave me one of his CD's - a thoughtful touch for a wedding performer! I will request him again, should an occasion arise, and have no reservations in recommending him for someone who needs quiet, thoughtful background music, or even some of that modern, noisy stuff. -- Peter W, Manzanita, OR, 8/3/2006
  • Michael is a great musician and very easy to work with. He was able to perform virtually every piece of music that we requested. He peformed for our ceremony and kept our guests entertained for well over 4 hours. We highly recommend Michael for any special occasion. -- Jack S, Cathlamet, WA, 7/29/2006
  • Michael was absolutely the perfect fit for our wedding music. He played during both the ceremony and the reception. He performed a great range of music and we got a lot of compliments from guests on his playing. Michael fit in perfectly and made the music portion of our wedding go very smoothly without us having to worry about anything. I would definitely recommend Michael to anyone who is looking for great guitar music for a wedding or other event. Thanks so much Michael!!! -- Chad N, Troutdale, OR, 6/18/2006
  • Michael played at our wedding. He was super professional, yet layed back-- definutely made the process low stress. He fit in perfectly during the ceremony and was great backround music for the dinner. We got lots of positive comments on his performance. I would highly recommend his services. -- Nicole A, The Dalles, OR, 6/17/2006
  • Michael was ready to go when our party started. In fact his music got our guests more relaxed. Most of our guests complimented me on my choice of musician - thanks for making me look good! I'm trying to find some excuse to throw another party so we can hire Michael again. -- Kent A, Portland, OR, 4/22/2006
  • Michael was a truly superb addition to our wedding. As a college-trained guitarist of almost 20 years myself, I was extremely impressed with Michael's repetoire, musicianship, and passion for the music he plays. He also went above and beyond to make sure the wedding went smoothly, taking care of many details so the wedding party could stay focused on the event. The music provided both during the service and at the reception was excellent and many of our guests commented on his skill and his excellent personality. I would hire Mr. McCabe again without hesitation and wholeheartedly recommend him for any event needing a high quality musician with a great work ethic and a professional yet friendly personality. -Gregg -- Christa W, Sublimity, OR, 9/17/2005
  • He was the perfect entertainment for our reception. He made great music selections and took requests from our guests. Many guests commented on his talent and music. He played at just the right volume for the size of our room. You could hear him perfectly but he didn’t overwhelm the space. Michael is awesome and I wish him great success with future events. -- Josette Y, Portland, OR, 8/20/2005
  • Michaal perform at Lower Columbia College on May 31st 2005 12:00-1:30pm at our 2nd annual Intercultural Week celebration. There was a good showing of students who came to see Michael's Celtic music performance. Many students had comment to me that they really enjoy his music and that it brought a different sound on campus. Michael was professional in his performance at Lower Columbia College and we would not hesitate to bring him back should we need a performer for our event. -- Kassondra F, Longview, WA, 6/1/2005
  • He played Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix, as I was walking down the aisle. Awesome- our wedding was a success and I contribute a huge ammount toward Michael McCabe. The guests loved him, and even started singing to his jams! He was very accomodating, and professional. I would hire him again for a special function. Thank you Michael!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mr. and Mrs. Cole -- Heather M, Marmot, OR, 5/21/2005
  • Michael McCabe was truely a wonderful pick for our birthday party entertainment. He played a variety of instrumental music, all of which were very good. Many of our guests enjoyed the evening as Michael played on, he drew quite a crowd. He's friendly, extremely talented and a great person to get you through an evening of listening pleasure. I highly reccommend him for all occasions. -- Renee S, Albany, OR, 5/14/2005
  • We were very pleased with the variety of music that Michael covered. He is an extremely skilled player. I had numerous comments after the party about how good he sounded. During a raffle we had Michael improvise as winners were announced and prizes given out. He did a great job with the various kids that were there who wanted to dance as well. All in all Michael's playing exceeded my expectations. -- Dan S, Beaverton, OR, 12/17/2004
  • Michael was wonderful! We had a small, intimate family wedding reception and he provided the most beautiful guitar music for the cocktail hour and dinner music. He went to special lengths to make sure he played the music we requested and he was incredibly nice and accomodating. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants beautiful flamenco styled and original guitar music. He is VERY talented! -- Annette T, Portland, OR, 9/5/2004
