Description
From solo guitar to jazz combos or dance bands, I take pride in the quality and integrity of the music I produce today. After three decades of experience with rock concert acts, show bands and jazz groups, I currently work along the Gulf Coast and deep south either as a soloist, playing jazz and pop standards, Latin sambas and bossa-novas, or with a female vocalist as a duo, or with combos up to 7 pieces, with emphasis on jazz standards and swing with some pop and R&B dance material.
In recent years I have focused on becoming a perfect classical guitarist for wedding ceremonies. Playing romantic music on the guitar is a love of my life and lends itself beautifully to other occasions as well; with an effortless transition to the sound of electric jazz guitar in the style of my influences, Wes Montgomery and one of my former teachers, George Benson. It will complement any sophisticated and romantic setting such as fine dining, wedding receptions, private house parties, corporate receptions or any occasion that intrinsically is a celebration of life itself. It can serve as a most appropriate and beautiful soundtrack for your occasion.
Forty years in the music business have provided me with a diverse repertoire and the ability to adapt to a wide variety of situations or whims. My vocal repertoire ranges from material by Nat Cole and Michael Buble' to James Taylor and Jimmy Buffet.
*****************************************************
My instruments are: an Ibanez arch top electric guitar and a Takamine electric/acoustic nylon-string classical guitar. I also play ukulele and banjo on occassion. I use a Roland guitar synthesizer, a looping device and a Rhythm Composer with personally-programmed (sequenced bass and drums) accompaniment for solo engagements. I am completely self-contained with all equipment needed for large to very small accomodations. I specialize in outdoor/beach wedding ceremonies with battery-powered equipment, including a wireless lapel mic for the officiant.

Feedback
- Jim was so personable and accommodating, not to mention talented. He arrived early and did a wonderful job with both our ceremony and reception music. He's also a great singer! We highly recommend him! -- Lee Ann R, New Orleans, LA, 6/4/2011
- If there was a 10 for satisfaction I would have picked it! Jim couldn't be a nicer, tallented, and more professional man. He exceeded my expectations 100 times and he made my wedding ceremony special! Thanks Jim!
-- Janie B, Gulf Shores, AL, 5/29/2011
- He was great! Fantastic personality and the music was just right. Thank you for making our event so special. -- Maria T, Mobile, AL, 10/19/2010
- Jim Armstrong played at our beach wedding and did a wonderful job. He arrived well in advance to the wedding and didn't need any additional direction. Overall, everyone that attended our wedding was throughout impressed with his music (age range 20-80). Our only regret is that we didn't ask him to sing more since he sang one song while playing the guitar and it was amazing. -- Brooke G, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, 5/8/2010
