It is an ancient oracle, a vessel of timeless wisdom contained in 78 beautifully illustrated cards. All Readers, especially intuitive ones, develop a personal relationship with The Tarot and a private language in regard to interpreting cards in the context of a reading. Yes, the cards have universally agreed-upon meanings. But like any form of "scripture," the meanings of Tarot cards should not be taken strictly literally. Rather, the uniquely flexible Tarot was designed to be understood as myths, parables, examples, messages & symbols that are best understood in the context of the present and the circumstances of the querant (the person being read for) - making The Tarot relevant forever! Someone sitting for the pleasure and excitement of a reading is, naturally, curious about his/her future. It is the responsibility of a good Reader to help the querant understand that while there may be clear future possibilities, even probabilities, shown in the cards or sensed by a Reader's intuition, the future is ever changing.
