HIT String Band Folk Band from Lincolnton, GA

We are an Appalachian String Band. We play in the traditional Appalachian style. The group includes a clawhammer banjo player, a fiddle player, a dulcimer player, a bass player and a guitar player. We have played at a number of festivals including, "Arts In The Heart" in Augusta, Ga.,"Hopeland Summer Concert Series" in Aiken SC, "Mule Days" in Washington, Ga., "Pioneer Days" in Lincolton, Ga. and many others. We have also performed at a number of schools and other special venues where we include historical information concerning the origin of Appalachian music and it's impact on country music in America. The ages of the musicians in this group range from 12 to 18. They have been taught and mentored by myself, David Donehoo. I am 65 years old and was raised playing this music on both banjo and fiddle. My original goal was to pass my music on to some of the younger kids in our Church simply for the enjoyment of it but they have gotten to be such fine musicians that we have been asked to play at quite a few gatherings over the last year or so. We prefer playing at family friendly events where alcohol is not served.
