Flutist and Piccoloist, Elena Yakovleva, performs for all occasions, including church services, wedding ceremonies and cocktail-hour, private parties, and orchestral/choral concerts. Elena Yakovleva can perform as a soloist or with ensembles that include winds, brass, strings, piano, organ, percussion! You will LOVE the quality of performance and professionalism. Elena can contract other musicians as necessary.

Elena Yakovleva was born in Kaliningrad, studied at the Rachmaninov Music College, the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and at the Folkwanghochschule in Essen, Germany, under Prof. Hans-Jörg Wegner and Prof. Gunhild Ott. Later studies brought her to the US at the Carnegie Mellon University with Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza. Since 2006 she has been pursuing graduate studies at Peabody Institute with Marina Piccinini.

Ms. Yakovleva has also played flute and piccolo with the Annapolis Symphony and Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestras, performed in the Peabody "Side by Side" project with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Marin Alsop, participated in the Summer Opera Theatre of Washington, D.C., Kent-Blossom and National Orchestral Institute Festivals.

A scholarship recipient from the Russian Ministry of Culture, she was selected for the artist roster of Yehudi Menuhin's foundation "Live Music Now", has been a winner of the "New Names" Festival in Moscow , the "Villa Musica" Award in Germany. In 2006 Elena was a prize winner in the New York Flute Club Competition.

Elena Yakovleva was selected to represent Peabody Conservatory in performances at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore, and also was a featured performer at Peabody's 2008 graduation ceremony when she received her Master of Music degree.

In the summer of 2009, Ms. Yakovleva performed as a soloist with Kaliningrad Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Alexander Andreev on the opening of IX International Music Festival "Service to Bach".

Currently, Elena Yakovleva holds the Piccolo/3rd Flute position with the Maryland Symphony and with the Delaware Symphony Orchestras.

Elena is also a Flute Faculty at International School of Music in Bethesda and a Chamber Music Faculty at Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University.
