For the past 30 years, Walker Florist ~ Town Center has been proudly serving Virginia's Hampton Roads area. But 1981 was possibly the worst and the best year for Jamie and Helen Walker. That August, Jamie was one of the 11,000 air traffic controllers fired by President Ronald Reagan after the labor union went on strike. In order to support their young and growing family, Jamie and Helen opened Walker Florist with a three-door cooler within a Virginia Beach garden center. Today, over 30 years later, Walker Florist ~ Town Center is a well-established floral shop known for quality flowers and plants at reasonable prices. Jamie's unique, Asian- and garden-inspired designs continue to delight clients who want something “different.” Walker Florist became an official second-generation family operation when Cyndi Walker Kight, the eldest of Jamie and Helen's six children, came on board full-time in 2010.
